Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Dominguez.
Eric, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in Tucson, and started playing piano at 7 years old. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in music theory from the University of Arizona, I moved up to Phoenix. It wasn’t until 2020 that I was able to accumulate all the necessary music equipment to start producing my own music. Since then, I’ve been working on improving nearly everyday, which has allowed me to released two EPs, with my debut album set to release on August 15th of this year. I’ve been extremely fortunate to be able to pursue my passion for as long as I have so far and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been many struggles along the way, including but not limited to, losing loved ones around me, like my grandparents, who were the ones that got me started playing piano and were some of my biggest supporters. I also have a chronic health issue that I’ve struggled with since graduating college. If anything, these struggles have made me appreciate each day that I get to do what I love even more since life is so precious and can be taken away any moment.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I investigate fraud for a major credit card company and write reports to law enforcement to help track down the criminals. It’s very fulfilling and challenging work that stays interesting and allows me the resources to support my music career. I’m most proud of being at this company for 10 years now and working my way through all the challenging work and up to the position I’m currently at.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My dad and brother definitely deserve some recognition as they’ve always been strong supporters from such an early age, and continue to be. Without them I would not have the courage to pursue my creative dreams. My dad always made sure I had what I needed to be successful in any endeavor I pursued, whether it was music, sports, or my education. My older brother was my first best friend and continues to be my biggest role model in how I want to be as a person.
