Life & Work with Dr. Shannon Bennett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Shannon Bennett.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I struggled with severe and debilitating anxiety after a traumatic brain injury. And for quite some time during recovery, I was doing all the things, both natural and allopathic, and it wasn’t until I addressed the root causes that I saw relief. This pushed me to really zero in on my female patients with anxiety and I found that these were the same root causes with each and every one of them. I have learned with myself, as well as with hundreds of women, that there are 5 distinct root causes of anxiety that show up for high-achieving, ambitious, adventurous, and overwhelmed women.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building a business, I’m passionate about? It’s been pretty fun, but of course, comes with its own challenges. Although I believe healing from a brain injury and severe anxiety are much more challenging, so I’m having fun making reels, forming a community, and helping women see themselves uninhibited by fear and stress, once again.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Aside from what I’ve already mentioned, I utilize naturopathic principles like docere [doctor as teacher], to provide educational masterminds and courses for people looking to heal naturally from home. As well as prescribe specific homeopathic remedies to assist in the health and resiliency of my patients. I see patients with anxiety, depression, burnout, insomnia, and hormone dysregulation. I like to hang out in the intersection of women’s health and mental health.

Additionally, I work with supplement companies to educate their customers and practitioners on best practices and about the products. If you can’t tell, I’m a firm believer in getting natural health information in the hands of as many people as possible.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Oh great question! I have always been inquisitive and curious, asking a million questions and eager to learn more about everything. I’ve been known to march to the beat of my own drum, which I’ve found helpful in showing up online as authentically as possible. When I sit down with a patient, they already know me and I love it! Feels like we’re just friends swapping secrets about where to snag a cute dress on sale. As far as growing up, I grew up in Kansas City, MO — Go Chiefs! And I was raised on a very meat and potatoes lifestyle. So, making the transition to healthier, more mindful lifestyle habits wasn’t easy for me. I find the struggle I went through helps me relate to my patients while they are making the shift, too.
