Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAnna DuPree.
Hi DeAnna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Fashion was not a huge part of my childhood. It was quite the opposite actually. I struggled with confidence. I struggled with accepting the external shell I presented to the world. I struggled with self-love. It really wasn’t until later in life; in my 30s, where I began to appreciate the business of fashion, the power of positive self image, and style.
As I began to adjust my image as a digital marketing consultant, I noticed a huge change in the clients Id attract, as well as my perceived value. Because I’d elevated my style (which boosted my confidence), I was asked by the VP of a Fortune 100 company to provide style guidance for a companywide photo shoot. I gladly accepted!
I kicked off this “new gig” by interviewing key stakeholders on their desired look for the photo shoot, I noticed a common thread; many were struggling with their style, their confidence, and they didn’t have the time to shop or even identify their own personal style. This aha moment had my wheels spinning… BUT, I had to nail the photo shoot first lol. “Put a pin in it, DeAnna!”
This was my very first time stepping into the role as “a personal shopper,” I was so nervous, had no idea what I was doing … but I am not a quitter! I accepted the job, so I was gonna kill it no matter what! That’s the Capricorn in me!
The day comes. As I began to shop store to store, and create what I perceived as “Magic,” I started to sweat profusely. I could hear my heart beating in my ears. I literally thought I was having a heart attack, lol. I called my mentor, crying like a baby, because I couldn’t explain what was happening. As I shared with her what was going on in my body and how I was feeling, she made a deep sigh and said ever so gently, “my dear, you’ve just found your purpose!” The rest is history!
That was nearly 13 years ago. Today I stand in DeAnna’s Style Haus- Arizona’s first woman-owned, minority-owned styling Atelier, nestled in McCormick Ranch Scottsdale. With a slew of high profile clientele spanning from C-Suite Execs, Lawyers, Faith Leaders, Politicians, to Working Moms, and Emerging Entrepreneurs. I’m literally living out my wildest dreams! I get to shop, play dress up, and deliver to the world, the most beautiful, perfectly polished, and bad-ass humans, one has ever encountered.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Ha! If any entrepreneur tells you the road to success was smooth, run! Haha
There have been countless bumps in the road. From my own self doubt and self sabotaging behaviors to jealous friends, unpaid invoices, the pandemic, sacrificing family time to push through a deadline, to not having enough money to hire help, to being completely in debt just to keep the dream alive… There’s been more than enough struggles!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I wear many hats. very well. I am an Executive Image Coach & Consultant, Motivational Speaker, and Transformational Wardrobe Stylist. I sharpen leaders, equip professionals, and drive transformational outcomes through self image and style. I specialize in elevating:
confidence,
brand visibility, and
An executive presence for individuals and companies.
What am I most known for?
I am most known for my ability to turn someone’s image from so-so to strategically polished, powerful, and commanding. I’m also known for my fun personality, and waist-cinching Goddess Belts (amongst my female clients). I’m also known as a supernatural shopping Maven and fearlessly confident business woman amongst my colleagues, peers, and clientele.
I am most proud of my resilience. There were so many trials, and odds stacked against me. BUT here I stand! I’m also extremely proud of how much I have accomplished in my very short time in Arizona.
I believe my heart, and desire to see everyone win is what sets me apart. The work I do enhances and elevates the life of many, not just their wardrobe… And I take that very serious. I truly lead with love and passion in every aspect of my life and business.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
As early as I can remember, my mother and my godmother would take me Thrifting on the weekend. We would drive for miles to hunt down an antique plate or a vintage handbag from the Gatsby era. We would thrift from sun up to sun down. I guess that’s where I get my shopping stamina from ha ha ha. I can literally shop for 12 to 15 hours without stopping for water, its wild!
