Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Homaijani.

Hi Daniel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I had the idea for UNiQ during my senior year at ASU. I realized there is a lack of vegan food in the area and I wanted to change that. Soon after I had this idea, COVID hit. I spent most of my time locked inside working to turn this dream into a reality. This was a very long and challenging process. Nearly 3 years later and here we are.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would be lying if I said a single step went smoothly, however, I am very grateful for everything I learned along the way. It was a challenge to find a location, equipment, contractors, source ingredients, find staff, etc. The list goes on and on. COVID made everything significantly more challenging as well.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I take a lot of pride in everything I create. I will attempt something countless times until I get it right.

I apply this to the kitchen. When I cook, I am not satisfied until I create something that looks and tastes incredible. I wanted to make a gourmet plant-based burger for a casual dining setting. This burger is unlike anything out there.

You have to taste it to believe it.

What makes you happy?
The feedback from customers always puts a smile on my face. I hear many stories of people driving long distances to try food and they always tell me it was worth the drive. Many people have told me this is the best burger they have ever had.

This type of feedback makes me very happy. I am proud I created something that makes others happy. I also get very happy when non-vegan customers tell me this is the first vegan meal they’ve tried and how they are blown away by it.
