Hi Daisy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Aloha! Thank you for the opportunity to share my story. My journey with Maui and Kona began with a childhood passion for bath and body products. Even as a young child, I enjoyed experimenting with different ingredients, creating potions and concoctions from the treasures I discovered in my mom’s bathroom. Sorry, Mom, for using up all your fancy creams and soaps—I couldn’t resist! My love for creating bath and body products intensified as I grew older. I became captivated by the artistry and the potential to craft unique experiences for others. Inspired by the elegance of Hawaiian culture, I decided to start Maui and Kona, a brand dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and unforgettable moments of self-care.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to where I am today has sometimes been challenging, but every obstacle has been an opportunity for growth. Like any small business, we faced our fair share of challenges. From sourcing the finest vegan and organic ingredients to honing our crafting techniques, it requires perseverance and a deep commitment to customer satisfaction. One of the biggest struggles we encounter is finding a good work-life balance. Running a small business on the outside can look very glamorous at times. Most days, I hit the floor running with so much excitement and joy for the next project. Other times I want to cry and give up. From product conception to packaging, prepping for market season, social media, and marketing, small business is a rollercoaster, but I am beyond grateful to be on this ride. Through these challenges, we learned the importance of resilience and its impact on our customers’ experiences.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Maui and Kona, we specialize in hand-crafted bath bombs. A few of our other staples include body scrubs, whipped soap, and room + linen sprays. Each product is crafted with love and attention to detail, using our 100% made-from-scratch bases and mixes. Our unwavering dedication to using vegan, organic ingredients sourced from ethically responsible companies sets us apart. We take pride in creating products that pamper the body and align with our customer’s values. As an artist at heart, I find joy in pushing the boundaries of creative design. Our seasonal bath bombs and body scrubs are inspired by nature’s beauty and carefully curated to evoke a sense of wonder and delight in each customer. I am delighted that our products can transform an ordinary bath or shower into a luxurious escape. But what makes us stand out is our emphasis on customer experience and building genuine relationships. Every box should be an experience similar to opening a present. From the moment customers discover our brand to when they indulge in our products, we strive to make them feel like a part of our family.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Can you share something that might surprise us?
Some people may not know something surprising about me and my journey: Before Maui and Kona, I owned a business called Daisy Cakes in Utah. It was a delightful venture where I specialized in catering baked goods, including designer cupcakes, cake pops, and other custom orders. Entrepreneurship and the power to create have always been a driving force in my life. Bringing smiles to people’s faces through my work truly fulfills me. Transitioning from Daisy Cakes to Maui and Kona allowed me to continue expressing my creativity in a new and exciting way. While the products may have changed, the underlying passion for crafting unique experiences remains the same. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my journey with others and to have them be a part of the Maui and Kona story.
