Life & Work with Chris Berroud

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Berroud.

Hi Chris, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always had a love for photography but, it wasn’t until April 2016 that I finally decided to take the leap and buy my first DSLR. This has led me on a journey from shooting any and everything to specializing in wildlife, particularly birds of prey, and now since my move to Arizona from California in September 2022, jumping into the world of portrait photography.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
At the end of the day, I’m blessed. The road to where I am now was certainly not smooth as all journeys have their ups and downs.

Navigating the pandemic, deciding to leave family and friends to move from California to Arizona, and going through the process of buying a house all while married with two little girls was a struggle at times.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I work as a claims adjuster for an insurance company as my primary source of income but on the side, I do photography specializing in portraiture and wildlife for leisure.

I’m most proud of just being able to continue to learn and grow my craft in all areas of photography.

What sets me apart from others? I’d say my absolute love of capturing beautiful photos that can tell you a story anytime you look at them. Whether that be people or wildlife.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Willingness to always critique your own work and learn.
