Hi Cheryl, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
PIEfection started in 2012 with a retired corporate American foodie’s dream of a small bakery with everything homemade. It has now been 13 years and we have grown to 4 locations and over 70 varieties of pie! We bake everything in house fresh from scratch daily. Our mission at PIEfection is “To help you create lasting memories around your table with family and friends.” It has been nothing but a sweet journey!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Business ownership is never smooth, and particularly the food business, it’s a hard ride! We opened our second location amid covid, going into lockdown 2 days after we signed the contract! There is a new struggle everyday, whether it is realizing 1 week before Thanksgiving that now your small van will not accommodate all the deliveries to the other locations, or fighting with the cities about letting you put signs out, or struggles with perfecting a new recipe. It’s just as rewarding on the other end when it all comes together and the battle is won!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in making everything fresh everyday and using only the finest ingredients. We are constantly creating new pies and pushing the limits of creativity. We started with less than 30 varieties and we now proudly have over 70.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Your employees are your most important asset, they will never let you down if you value them. They will work tirelessly for the success of the business when you appreciate them and let them know they are valued. They will also spread the word of the success of your business and advertise your products when it is something everyone can be proud of.
