Life & Work with Chantal of Downtown Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantal.

Hi Chantal, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in South Phoenix wasn’t easy, but I didn’t really know that as a kid. My family always made sure I felt secure. We didn’t have a lot, but I never felt like I had to go without. It was all about perspective. I was raised to value what we had and to hustle for what we wanted.

I’ve always loved fashion and being in front of people. I used to sell candy at my family’s stand at the swap meet, staying out late to catch the crowds after the baile (dance). That place taught me everything. I would see the baddies walk by, and they lit something up in me. I loved their outfits, their confidence, the way everyone noticed them. They looked like magic.

And baby, I grew up in the Y2K era, when the Latinas were glammed up to the heavens. I just knew I was going to be one of them one day. When my grandma would dress me in cute matching sets, I felt like the main character. I didn’t just want to be stylish. I wanted to be seen. I wanted to influence. I wanted to lead.

Fast forward to now, I’m an influencer working with brands on TikTok and creating fashion content that makes me feel alive. But it wasn’t always smooth.

My biggest challenge was breaking free from a scarcity mindset and feeling like I didn’t deserve good things. I was always worried there wouldn’t be enough. Money only became a problem when I was afraid it would run out. I also struggled with body image. I was a little gordita, and that came with all kinds of insecurities.

When I was ten, my parents divorced. My mom was emotionally abusive, and that really tore down my self-worth. For a long time, I hated myself. But I worked hard to unlearn that pain. My dad showed me how to be resilient and kind, even when things are hard. That man gave me the strength to keep going and to believe that better was possible.

One of the biggest turning points in my life was going no contact with my mom and starting therapy. I also started healing and growing with my husband, who has been by my side through so much. Together, we’ve found new ways to build a life that feels good. I’ve lost 40 pounds, found peace in my body, and built a community of over 18K people who vibe with me online.

Moving to the heart of downtown Phoenix was a big stretch. But it was the stretch I needed. It pulled me closer to the version of me I always knew was there. Before that, it felt like I was living a double life. Once I stepped into this new chapter, it felt like everything finally clicked.

Now I live in the center of the city I grew up in. I see Phoenix blooming around me, and I feel like I’m blooming with it. I’m finally living the life little-me used to daydream about.

This city raised me, and now it’s watching me shine.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh absolutely not. This road had potholes, plot twists, and a few emotional sinkholes.

One of the hardest things I have had to face was going through life without a mom. Cutting ties was not easy, but staying would have destroyed me. Therapy has helped me unpack a lot, but it is no joke. It feels like peeling back layers I did not even know were there. Some days I leave feeling like I went ten rounds in a boxing ring, but I always come back because I want to heal for real.

I also made the choice to take care of my body. Slowly, intentionally, and with love. I have lost 40 pounds, but more importantly, I have gained trust in myself. No crash diets or quick fixes. Just consistency and learning how to eat better without punishing myself.

So no, it has not been smooth. But I have learned that the bumps in the road do not break you. They build you.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I make fashion and lifestyle content that is cute, confident, and full of personality. I work with TikTok brands to show off swimwear, beauty products, and outfits that make people feel like their best self. It is like being a digital hype girl, and I love it.

People know me for being real, funny, and a little bratty in the best way. I keep it honest whether I am showing off a new look or talking about healing and growth. I mix softness with attitude and always add a little sparkle.

What I am most proud of is that I built this on my own. No secret formula, just showing up as myself. I went from a girl with big dreams to a creator with a whole community who vibes with me.

What sets me apart is that I am not trying to be perfect. I am just trying to be real. I show the glow-up, the struggles, the wins, and the work. And I make it fun along the way.

How do you think about happiness?
What truly makes me happy is seeing the world and sharing it with the people I love. I live for new experiences, pretty views, and the little moments that remind me how beautiful life can be.

But more than anything, I think happiness comes from learning how to just be human and being okay with that. Letting go of perfection, giving myself grace, and choosing joy even when things are messy. That is where the real magic is for me.
