Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Melendrez.

Hi Carlos, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I currently own a food truck business with two other associates, which are good friends of mine. I am actually from Sinaloa Mexico. My parents were immigrants from Mexico as well and they decided to move over here. I was about three years old when I was brought over to this country. As a family, we kept moving around when I was younger. I grew up at a trailer park by 43rd Ave. and Roosevelt since the age of eight and graduated from Carl Hayden high school in 2016. After high school, I decided I needed a trade. So I decided to become a barber and get my license.

While I was cutting hair, I was also DJing at night to make extra income so I could save up for a down payment for a house. I was always interested in investing. I bought my first house at 21 as an investment. I sold my house two years later at 23 because my house had gained equity. Six months after selling the house I came up with the idea of a grilled cheese Carne asada sandwich. I brought this idea up at the table with both my friends. We started the Meltz operation at the end of august 2022. It took us a couple of months to get everything together and pass inspection but as of 2023 Meltz LLC has been slowly but surely thriving. I can’t wait for this year for us waiting.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The only struggle that we have had on the food truck/business was trying to get the system of selling grilled cheese to work. Besides that, the inspection and everything else ran smoothly. And people have enjoyed our product.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My main profession is cutting hair in other words, as a barber, but my hobbies include making music producing music, DJing, and investing. Although I don’t have all the time to keep on making music right now, hopefully in the future, I can keep pursuing music production.

Whenever I can, I try to go to the gym and stay fit as well. My main hobby, which I have always loved is the passion for investing and making businesses, and now that I have a chance I want to start strong.

What’s next?
As of now, we have to run Meltz LLC strong for the year. Once we build more on top of the business, we can later start looking into buying assets. Our main focus is to work and get things done.
