Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Pankow.
Hi Brittany, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am born and raised here in the beautiful valley of Phoenix, AZ and it was only a matter of time before I decided to start up a creative avenue within the heart of home. I started Simply Soapology out of my kitchen, after realizing that I was a mom and wife in need of a hobby. So why not just start a business?!
I have always had a love for all things plants, science, and homemade soaps. So I decided to combine all of my passions into a business operation. And my biggest component was going to focus on simplifying an otherwise complicated-over-time and packed-with-chemicals process.
It has been over a year and a half since Simply Soapology first launched and we are in no sights to slow down. Our first year, we focused on researching and fine-tuning our recipe, and sharing these beautiful products with people via Farmers Markets. After Simply Soapology turned 1, I knew I had to start reaching higher than Camelback mountain. And thus, soap making classes were born, as well as being a feature exhibit at the Women’s Expo at The Phoenix Convention Center in September, our biggest event to date!
Today, I keep that focus in the forefront of my mind and heart. Keeping things simple and about as natural as it can get, while highlighting ingredients that we can find and source right here in Arizona!
We have high ambitions and goals and enough bubbles to go around!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t believe any process is ever smooth. In fact, the character and grit learned along a rocky road is truly what creates the traveler.
We have had our share of hiccups, from batches of soap not going well in the making, to finances being tight, to the grueling hot summers of Arizona cutting farmers markets from the schedule. But like all roads, you keep going no matter what. The journey is entirely about the process, not the destination.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In my hours away from my business, I am a medical assistant by day. I’ve worked in various practices over my years, though I currently hold a role with Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
I am truly proud of the care and support I bring to families and patients. It is something that I value tremendously about myself. In my interview process, I indicated that I want families to feel as if I gave them a hug on a hard day, and that is something I strive to do with each and every patient. I always aim to make sure happiness is achieved, even in a stressful situation. I take pride in bringing more than just a smile and care to the table.
Any big plans?
I have a lot of plans for my future, and I’m certain they may pivot and change as adapting is what life is all about. Though right now, we are focusing on our soap making classes and events, as well as preparing for markets and other events around the valley.
One of my goals is to get my products in a hotel boutique.
