Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Guzman Alcantar.

Hi Brittany, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story I feel is one that has been in the works for a while, I just didn’t realize it until now.

I am a native Phoenician and a licensed Cosmetologist. I have been in and around the beauty industry for over thirteen years. I have always had an interest in gazing at the stars, and reading my horoscope in magazines. However, it wasn’t until I was about nineteen when I had my first Spiritual Awakening during one of my advanced skincare classes.

Spiritual Awakening is such a nuanced term. It can mean something different for everyone. For me, it truly awakened me to something greater than myself. On this day of training, we were learning about the holistic approach to healing-The Mind, Body, and Spirit connection. It was a relative crash course into Energy Healing, Meditation, Chakras, Pressure Points, Essential Oils and truly connecting with ourselves and the world around us.

I remember on that day the world as I knew it had changed. I saw myself, and the world differently. I knew that my purpose was to help heal others. I knew I wanted to teach and share the knowledge I had just learned, to help others as well. I remember writing this down in my journal after class that day, back in 2008.

I soon began to experience what is known as synchronicities. Clients would come in that were also keen on this healing journey. Our conversations were aligned, and books were shared and swapped. I truly met some amazing people and mentors. That part of my life was in my early twenty’s I was on the journey of discovering who I was and what impact I wanted to make on the world.

I moved to Guadalajara, in Mexico for the next two years. My now-husband, (boyfriend at the time), went to an International Medical School there and I went with him. Off to explore the world and go on this new adventure. This experience opened my eyes in the best way. It taught me independence, and we really grew up being out there on our own. I continued with my passion for beauty by being the med students’ personal stylist. I was really into nail art and making natural beauty products. I remember making Coconut Oil from an actual coconut, start to finish! My creative quest has always been present.

Fast forward to 2014, we returned to Phoenix, and I started working at a local blow dry bar. I moved up quickly and became an education lead. I was the Shop Educator. Instructing about product knowledge, and the blowout technique to the new hires. I have always loved plant ingredients in skincare and hair products. Teaching mnemonics or telling little stories to remember what a specific ingredient does is always one of my favorite things to teach. I met so many wonderful people there and it was such an amazing welcome home. Three years later I had to say goodbye, it was time for me to start my journey as a mother. We would also be moving to Chicago. (Residency life)

Chicago is where my spiritual journey really took shape again. Being a stay-at-home mom, I had more time to listen to podcasts. There were two that I would always have on rotation. “Better, Work Bitch” and “Let there be Luz”. I started following the spiritual guests they had on their shows and expanding my circle. I soon was on Zoom calls doing Moon Rituals, downloading the meditations they provided, and I was journaling like I never had before.

I also really started to connect again with my family who has passed on. Researching my ancestry and learning more about where we came from. That’s one thing about moving to a city where you do not know anyone, you really must cultivate your own tribe. These women were my friends. That was my experience for about three years. All the while experiencing the same synchronicities, seeing repeating angel numbers and tons of animal messengers coming to visit our apartment. Chicago truly was magical.

We returned to Phoenix in the summer of 2020 for good. I became pregnant again with my second daughter. During the quarantine, I took a few classes from the same two women. I took a beginner’s Stock Market Course, Tarot, and Spirit Guide Course. I have never felt so aligned in those decisions. It sparked something inside of me that made me realize I can bring my own unique take on what I am passionate about. Spirituality and healing through beauty.

Medusa Holistic was born about a year later. I chose Medusa because she represents beauty and imperfections. The duality of life. The snakes are also a representation of rebirth. Coming into a new you. Whether that is physically or energetically. Medusa Holistic is a virtual space that provides Tarot and Oracle Card readings, natural beauty and skin tips utilizing herbs and plants, and coming soon virtual Reiki.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I have been lucky as far as entrepreneur wise to know many mentors, and friends who are aligned with their visions and have taken the plunge before me. I generally have help with any questions that may arise, and I try and research as much as I can too.

Yes, there have been internal struggles and feelings of inadequacy. That was something I really had to work through at the beginning of the pandemic. The idea of starting my own business hadn’t even crossed my mind at that point, these were all personal feelings of unworthiness and not being good enough. It was deep-rooted and really surfaced as I was trying my hardest to keep our family safe to the best of my abilities.

The pandemic really brought so much out that was ready to be released. That was also during my Saturn return. Saturn takes about 29 years to return to the same exact location it was when you were born. It usually signifies a time in one’s life, usually during one late 20’s where one can feel like their world is turning upside down.

Saturn rule’s structure, adulthood, discipline. You’re moving into the next stage of your life and basically are getting thrown in. Ready or not. Imposter Syndrome is also someone who likes to pop in here and there. Casting that doubt of do I really belong in this space? The inner work never stops.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I currently offer three types of Divination Readings.

Animal Spirit Guide Message, Clarity and Confirmation, and Life Session Core Values reading.

I am most proud of the genuine connection that I make with others. I also really love my Life Session and Core Values Reading, it’s one of my favorites to do. I remind you of who you are, your natural talents and strengths, and what direction is most aligned with your purpose. I send all readings via email. That way you can always go back and re-read them, or discover something that resonates later down the road.

Next year, I am excited to be offering our first beauty webinar. We will focus on skin and personal facial treatments. Distance Reiki healing is another service I am bringing on in the future. So many things are in the works and I can’t wait to share them with the community.

I believe what sets me apart is I am combining the knowledge that I have obtained in the beauty industry and combining it to work alongside our own energetic spirit. Using plants, herbs, crystals, and healing energetic touch, to enhance these beauty and healing practices. Creating an Alternative Beauty Alternative Healing approach.

What makes you happy?
My main source of joy comes from my family. My girls and my husband for sure! They are my number one support system. Their sweet faces, innocence, and discovery of life are truly beautiful. My husband is also my best friend we have been through so much together.

These also make me happy, in no particular order; Iced Coffee, being out in nature, butterflies, Sedona, crystals, vegan options on a menu, arranging flowers, cooking and baking, vintage shopping, hanging with my girlfriends, and scoring an awesome deal—I love a sale!
