Life & Work with Brittany Gloria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Gloria.

Hi Brittany, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised here in Arizona, and in 2019, I proudly graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. From age six to sixteen, I was a competitive dancer so beauty and precision were introduced to me at a very young age.

Growing up, my dream job was to be a pediatrician but little did I know I’d prefer an entirely different specialty. Healthcare was always the field I pictured myself in so I applied to the nursing program on a whim and was thankfully accepted.

Nursing school posed quite the challenges for me, but all the blood, sweat, and tears (literally), became worth it after I landed my dream job in the emergency department. To celebrate my new position, I treated myself to my first neuromodulator and lip filler appointment, and to say I was immediately obsessed was an understatement. This was my first encounter with aesthetic nursing and boy, was I intrigued.

One year into ER nursing, I found myself wanting more from my nursing career, and coincidentally at this time, a sweet friend introduced me to an available position at an accomplished plastic surgery practice here in Scottsdale, Arizona, Preferred Plastic Surgery. I was offered the position and I graciously accepted this new adventure.

As a patient of nonsurgical aesthetic procedures, my passion for beauty enhancements had only grown over time and I became more curious as to what it meant to be a provider in this industry. Within one month of starting this new position and continuing my ER nursing journey in the midst of the Covid pandemic, I sought out a training program for aesthetic nurses to show my interest and investment in what I could only dream would be the future of my nursing career.

After completing a rigorous program at National Laser Institute, I was then certified in many procedures such as advanced neuromodulators, filler, PDO threads, PRP, and several other aesthetic treatments, I was truly fulfilling my dream. Once my job search began, I quickly realized how tough it would be to secure a position.

Almost an entire year later after receiving my certifications, I approached the plastic surgeon I was currently working for and took a leap of faith asking if he would consider me as an aesthetic nurse injector. Not long after, I began training closely with my mentor Lauren, who is now my colleague, and she prepared me to start my dream job. I was able to start taking clients and I was beyond excited.

Launching my career as an aesthetic nurse injector at MD Beauty Spa was such a pivotal moment for me, everything I had worked for finally came to fruition and I could not be more grateful. Now, nine months into this field, I have found what a rewarding position I am in, to make men and women feel more beautiful and confident.

Every single day, I am continuing to learn about new procedures, anatomy, and techniques, and immerse myself in educational opportunities. This is only the beginning of my injecting career and I am thrilled to see what the future holds for me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth is definitely not the word that comes to mind when I think about my aesthetic nurse journey.

As I’ve shared before, becoming certified in injectables during a pandemic, my training and job search began during the height of Covid and it was a very challenging time for the medical field.

In addition, there is an abundance of talent here in Arizona, making my mark in this field requires continual effort and it is something that drives me to stay on the cutting edge of aesthetic advancements in this ever-changing industry.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently work at MD Beauty Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona which is under the practice of Marc Malek MD, Preferred Plastic Surgery. I offer services such as neuromodulators, filler, PRP, and Kybella.

As a newer injector, I am still finding my niche, but I would like to say lips are what I am passionate about and what fills up most of my schedule. I am most proud of the strides I’ve made thus far, building my clientele, seeking out educational opportunities, and creating an Instagram presence.

I am so grateful for the success I’ve had up to this point and I attribute my continual growth to the wonderful relationships I’ve built with patients who I can now call friends.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
It’s absolutely cheesy to say this, but this quote resonates with me, “You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal.

Instead, pursue the things you love doing and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you.” While I enjoy injecting for the gratification it gives me when my patients are pleased with their results, I inject for my love of art, symmetry, and beauty.

This field is so rewarding not only to my patients but to myself, and I am so grateful to have found where I fit into the nursing industry.
