Life & Work with Black Caesar Soul Club

Today we’d like to introduce you to Black Caesar Soul Club.

Black Caesar Soul Club

Hello, Black Caesar Soul Club; having you on the platform is an honor. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I(Aaron) was looking for a drummer for a while, and I met Marty in passing at a local bar downtown—the Kettle Black. The fit was pretty seamless, and we’ve been rocking ever since.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have to say it’s been pretty smooth. The music scene in Phoenix is pretty great. So many other bands and artists, like Joan of Arkansas, The Saturn III, and Tyler with the Antibacterial Cafeteria, have been awesome about putting on shows and sharing the wealth, which was huge in helping us get our footing early on.

I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
One of the things that’s super important to us is ensuring we bring soul to the forefront of our rock and roll. We always want to be sure that our music is drenched in it. There is no Black Caesar Soul Club without James Brown, Wilson Pickett, or Curtis Mayfield. We always want to make our musical lineage very clear.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Oh, for sure. Voice Notes. I (Aaron) am always writing, and new melodies are constantly popping into my head, so I’m always recording myself at the most random times, haha.
