Today we’d like to introduce you to AVARIST .

Hello AVARIST , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
AVARIST is an original hard rock band from Phoenix, bringing a new flavor to the Arizona music scene.

After releasing a solo album during the 2020 COVID lockdown era, guitarist Jason Benjamin got the itch to form a new band. In late 2021, AVARIST hit the scene and in just a few short months opened for national recording artist OTHERWISE at Pub Rock in Scottsdale.

Over the last two and a half years AVARIST has opened for many national acts such as: Pound, Flotsam & Jetsam, The Butcher Babies, Uncured, The Atomic Punks, Powerman 5000, Julien K, Hinder, and In the End.

AVARIST is now fronted by the incredible vocalist Alyssa Meri, whose musical roots in R&B and theater have paved the way for her seamless transition from performing in a Blues band to taking center stage with AVARIST. The guitarist Jason Benjamin,
Bassist & backing vocalist Rob LaBarbera,
and drummer Chris Tex.

AVARIST’s sound is a blend of catchy riffs and memorable choruses that will be stuck in your head for days with elements of today’s modern hard rock and hints of the late 90’s and early 2000’s nostalgia.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Getting people to support local live music, selling tickets for national shows. In today’s world, it seems like fewer people are interested in supporting local live music and attending smaller shows, unless it involves a well-known artist. This makes it challenging to sell tickets for national shows and promote local music events.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Having a new vocalist in the band brings an exciting fusion of R&B and pop influences, along with a powerful vocal range. I believe this will set us apart from other bands and make a huge impact on our sound. What are your plans for the future?
We are currently in pre-production to record our upcoming EP at Mind’s Eye Digital Recording Studios with Larry Elyea. We plan to release our 3 song EP later this year.
