Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Jefferson
Hi Alexis, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After high school, I got really into fashion and makeup and enjoyed taking pictures. In 2016/2017, I applied for modeling agencies but was denied one after another for either not meeting their look criteria’s or for simply having tattoos. It was very discouraging to be honest. But I’d continue to book photo shoots and my build up my own portfolio and platform on Instagram. When I was diagnosed with Lupus disease in 2018, that motivated me more to live my life to the fullest because it showed me that anything can happen and tomorrow is never promised. So I was more consistent with shoots and freelance modeling and eventually I got more recognition and was able to work with more photographers and on more projects and set my own prices to make a income. Along side with modeling, I’ve been working on my own bikini line. I absolutely love the water, I love to be in the sun. I’m always in a bikini, any change I get. So starting my own bikini line was very fitting and so far it’s something that I’ve really enjoyed working on! Being able to create my own designs and have put my personality and vision into bikinis has been so fun! It’s been in the works since March 2023 and I’ll be launching it summer 2025.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been easy. I feel like in this generation, unfortunately if you don’t have the looks, it’s a little more hard to be successful and follow your dreams. Me personally, I was too short for runway, I had too many tattoos to work with certain agencies. So having to brand and market myself completely on my own, wasn’t easy but it was worth it.
With my bikini line, it’s a lot harder than I thought. But again, very worth it. I’m the type of person to start multiple projects at once and not finish. But with this one, it’s been different. I’ve been working on it on stop and have been just trying to perfect everything so I can share my work with everyone and hopefully get to see beautiful women in all shapes and sizes feel comfortable and beautiful in my bikinis.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m mostly known for modeling. Being myself and branding myself has brought me to where I am today. I was able to work along side and network with some amazing creators. I’ve had no coaching, or was taught my any agencies. I learned everything on my own. That’s what I’m most proud of.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I’d say, my old bosses from working at the club, Corey & Thad, played a big role of where I am today. They really helped me build my platform and encouraged me to do what I love and what I’m good at and brand myself. To use my platform for a reason. And Ivan Davis, who was known as Wulf at the time, did my first photo shoot for me. He made me feel very confident and encouraged me to keep shooting. That was beginning to my modeling journey.
