Life and Work with Wilma Egan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wilma Egan.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Wilma. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Telling your own story takes a bit of introspection. I could start with a few descriptors: Kentucky girl; coal miners daughter; wife; mother; nurse practitioner; art lover; business owner; and hopefully kind-hearted. Sure, my path hasn’t always been easy… right now, I’m excited about life, possibilities, and the future. With that being said, here is my story…

Prior to my family’s move to Gilbert, AZ in 1991, I had never lived outside a coal mining town in Southeastern Kentucky. My 20’s and 30’s were spent being a wife and mother to my two girls. My 40’s and 50’s brought a great deal of change. Part of that change entailed my return to school to earn C.N.A.; L.P.N.; R.N; B.S.N.; and in 2012 an M.S.N. degree. After working in local hospitals, I wanted to broaden my skills, combining my love of art and science. In 2016, I studied medical aesthetics at a school in Scottsdale, AZ. I am currently certified in dermal fillers like Juvederm@, neuroparalytic agents like Botox@, fat dissolving agents like Kybella@, and collagen-building agents such as Sculptra@. What makes me different? I want my business to focus on positives to help others enhance themselves, not to change into a stylized version dictated by society. My philosophy: it’s ok if we need a little “help” to become more confident while remaining true to ourselves.

Has it been a smooth road?
As I mentioned previously, my 40’s and 50’s brought adjustments both in my life and that of my family. It was during those years that I prepared to be the provider for my family. In 1995, I began to study and obtain prerequisites to the aforementioned degrees. My first class was in correspondence. Yes, receiving lesson plans and turning in work by mail. My first online class, I had to call the helpline. I didn’t even know how to operate a computer to log in to the class. I studied with flashcards while waiting in the grocery line. My baby would sleep on one leg, while I had a textbook on the other. There was some course repetition. I called those, “successful failures” because I learned something each time. Despite that rocky start, I managed to earn a few academic awards along the way.

In 2005, after 24 years of marriage, my husband passed away. It’s not necessary to go into the details of that time; after all, the purpose here is to highlight the successes that resulted from challenges. You can glean that the time after my husband’s death was not easy. I remember thinking, “For the first time in my life, I am 100% responsible for 100% of everything.” Those words rang loudly in my head for some time. I had two daughters that relied on me to teach them about being a woman, wife, mother, and decent human being. I wanted to be a positive role model for my girls. I was grateful I had a nursing career and could support my family. As my girls got older, I could devote time to continued growth. Ultimately, leading to today.

If I could offer a pearl of wisdom, it is to surround yourself with people who possess the qualities and characteristics you admire. Watch them and learn. Before long, you will have assimilated those qualities into your own life. You don’t have to have a master plan or path laid out. Just get on a path. By taking that first step, you will have begun your journey. The right things will be able to present themselves. Don’t be afraid to lose people, places, and things that interfere with your goals. Once you make changes, not everyone will sing your praises. When that happens, turn your focus back to the things that keep you on your path. Good things will happen. For example, I am now remarried to a wonderful man, with many great things ahead.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Emerge Anew LLC – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
There are many wonderful aesthetic medical providers in the valley. I hope my “less is more” approach is what sets me apart. I never want my clients to look fake or obvious. Their face is my professional signature. Yes, I do cosmetic procedures, but I don’t change the person. I enhance, restore, and preserve. Products like dermal fillers and Botox@ are tools used in the industry; however, it is not enough to simply know the product. You have to have a creative, artistic touch to really see the balance and symmetry in a person’s face. These things aren’t necessarily taught in medical classes. The provider needs to have an artist’s eye. During a consultation, the client and I design a treatment plan that is conservative, safe, and economically feasible. After a procedure, clients know I am available! I text, call, and face-time to ensure things are progressing well. There is a Gaelic phrase, “Croi Alainn”  which means “Beautiful Heart.” I love that phrase and I wanted it to represent who I am and my business! It is my belief that sincere beauty comes from within. It is important to me every client knows they are perfect just the way they are; full of worth and purpose.
