Life and Work with Wendy Larchick

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Larchick.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Wendy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My personality is such, that I simply do not believe I can fail. I overcame many obstacles to go to college — one being, my family did not having the money for me to attend college. In order to go to college, after being a 3-sport varsity athlete during high school, I stopped playing all sports in my senior year of high school so I could work full-time after school and on weekends. Additionally, I kept my grades high so I could get scholarship help as well. My work ethic to achieve my goals only increased as I became an adult — I worked full-time while in college, graduating with two majors in 3.5 years — I loaded up on the maximum number of classes each semester so I saved money by cutting the expense of one semester. Something I have realized in my career — is that no one will ever out hustle me when I am striving for a goal, both with efficiency and pure grit.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I believe everyone has challenges and that’s what ends up separating people — some people when they meet a challenge, give up thinking they were not meant to achieve their goal. I have always looked as challenges as learning opportunities if I keep moving forward and persevering, I am can achieve my goal. Sometimes, that takes a lot more time and energy that I had counted on, but it’s worth it in the end.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I lead a real estate team that sells almost 50% of all luxury homes in our area! When you break that number down, it’s truly incredible — there are only four agents on my team, yet we outsell not only every single other agent in our area but almost all of them combined! There is a lot of skill in negotiating high-dollar real estate and putting together complicated terms, it’s really all in the art of the deal and it’s truly individualized at this dollar level — there are no cookie-cutter terms that work for every situation. Sometimes, when I step back, I am in awe of what I created with bringing together such incredible people and how we work together so cohesively for our clients.

Who have you been inspired by?
Many of my mentors don’t even know who I am or that they were my mentor! As a child growing up in a really small town in Wyoming, I read A LOT… and so I found my mentors in books. I was so inspired by historical women that changed the course for all women, as far back as Joan of Arc, to Susan B Anthony to Rosa Parks. I could go on and on about the incredibly strong women that I ready about throughout my like who bucked the norm and stood up for what was right, even though it wasn’t popular or the norm at the time. By their actions, they changed the path for all women.
