Today we’d like to introduce you to Vion Eubanks.
Vion, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started as a little girl looking up to my mom who is also a hairstylist. I tried to mimic everything she did like any other little girl that looked up to their mother. I remember the first time she taught me to braid at the kitchen table on a mannequin head, I was five. At that moment, I knew this was what I wanted to do. All through school I did hair, it started with my family, neighbors, then classmates and eventually some of my teachers. Going through life, making my own little family and having adult responsibilities, I tried getting what people would call a “real” job but nothing was as fulfilling to me like the feeling I got when someone looked in the mirror with that look of satisfaction, awe, and sometimes even tears and knowing that I had something to do with it. It’s such a great feeling to allow someone to see their true beauty be enhanced. This is my passion and it took me years to actually realize that. So, one day after years of going back and forth, enrolling in beauty school-dropping out-going back after five years moving to a new state and having to get a job. Out of frustration, I woke up one day and said I’m going to step out on faith and go for it. I worked in a few salons, got some amazing training with one of the top salons in the world Toni & Guy, built my confidence and my clientele, I stepped out on my own and eventually got my own salon suite. It took a lot of battling with my own fears, a lot of praying, having mentors and stepping out on faith and it’s not over yet.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Anything worth having is worth fighting for. I still struggle with things, the road is never easy or else everyone would do it. The hardest thing has been being a single parent with two children and building a career, but that is why I work so hard, they are definitely my motivation to keep going. My advice would be to find your why and always focus on that no matter what anyone else thinks about your dreams.

What sets me apart from others is my education of hair health for my clients to do at home when they are not with me, my diverse skills and my love for making my own natural products.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
Growing up in Atlanta, GA, I saw and was inspired by a lot of culture, art and artists. Going to hair shows and festivals that my mother would participate whether she was working or judging a competition. She and my Aunt were both hairstylists and my mother is an educator for Paul Mitchell the school in Atlanta, GA.
