Life and Work with Tiffany Filimon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Filimon.

Tiffany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up in Waterford Michigan with my mom & 3 younger brothers. I started loving the beauty industry at a very young age from being around my family salon all my life. I fell in love with makeup at a very young age, playing dress up or practicing on my friends. Growing up though I had no idea that makeup could be a career. I always learned growing up to do hair or go to college and get a “real career”. I went to beauty school my senior year in high school & as soon as I graduated I immediately started modeling & working for a ton of photo shoots. During that timing, I did my makeup for a ton of my own shoots & continued to get asked who did my makeup. Then, I started getting asked to do other models make up for there shoots. I had a model tell me one day, I needed to do this as a living. I instantly started booking appointments for more & more shoots. I decided to expand & start my own company to become an artist for all events & have been doing what I love ever since.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road in the beauty industry. This line of work is always a hustle. I’ve had weeks where I was completely booked out to completely dead. It’s always about building those relationships with the clients you meet along the way that love what you do & refer you to everyone else they know. Just do what you do best, stay positive & the rest will come!

I am a makeup artist located in Scottsdale, AZ. I specialize in all things makeup related. I’ve mostly been known for my creative makeup styles on Instagram @Dolledupluxe. That has really helped my work expand & become more well known. Social media has been a huge help in my career by booking amazing new clients for traveling & working with some amazing well-known brands such as NYX cosmetics.

I’m truly most proud of moving to a completely new state & building my brand from scratch in a completely new world to me.

One thing that sets me apart from others is creating art, creating things out of the ordinary. I want to be able to show I can do bridal makeup and soft natural glam to crazy creative lip art designs of every fruit you could think of!

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
One piece of advice I’d give to any woman going into this field of art is don’t give up! There are days that are going to feel like this isn’t the right career move for you like it’s too hard or you’re not good enough. Keep pushing, keep practicing & continue educating yourself. You will be the best you can be if you push hard at your dream & believe in yourself!
