Life and Work with Tatiana Britton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiana Britton.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tatiana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story can be a lengthy one if I allow it to be, but I  will summarize it as much as I can. My fitness journey was initially fueled by general interest but then, it hit full force when I went through a small heartbreak. My roommate and close friend, who was also dealing with heartache were already beginning to work out with me and I told her it was time for us to get SERIOUS!

I started training with a friend and personal trainer of mine & buckling down. I was truly just enjoying seeing my body change, as I had always been really thin all my life and received a lot of backlash from men and women regarding my figure— this resulting in low self-esteem & confidence.

With this fitness journey, people around me began noticing and I also got gutsy enough to share my journey more on social media platforms and with those around me. Long story short, I went through multiple major changes in college and discovered my passion for health and wellness and pursued a degree in such. With that change, I took more leaps such as applying at my student recreation center to personal train and lead group fitness classes (which is where Better Body with Tati was created).

Since then, it leads me to fitness coaching at various facilities, an internship in corporate wellness & now fitness coaching at Pulse Fitness in Scottsdale, AZ & Online Coaching available for anyone in any state!! Jumping out of my shell and taking risks at different points in my journey has shown me failure and success but I have enjoyed most all of it thus far!

Has it been a smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? If I look at it with the optimism I try to lead every day with.. yes. But with the realism, I balance it with… not always.

There recently was a point in time in which I lost my joy with my industry, simply because I was doing TOO much. I was also doing it alone.

Without getting into too much detail I will say that I was getting caught up in comparing where I was at and what I was doing with those on social media (Instagram, mainly) so much that I felt I was failing and that I was lost. It took me getting off of social media, to truly dive deep into my soul and mind to find out I wasn’t lost I was just craving something different than what I was doing.

So, for women who are starting their journey, whatever that may be I leave you with three pieces of advice that have helped me and continue to help me grow in my career and in my personal life.

1. If your entire focus is money you will always be chasing.
— look I get it, we all want money. We all NEED money if we’re trying to live with a roof over our head, food at our table and shoes on our feet. BUT if you’re trying to live a life of passion and fulfillment money may be a tool to help you get there but you will keep chasing if this is your only focus

2. You are not behind, lost, less than, etc. if you are not doing what everyone else is doing.
— Your social media following truly means nothing. Let’s be real! Social media is an AMAZING and FASCINATING tool. It’s helped me gain clients from other states who I could have never reached otherwise. However, it easily makes us feel like we are not doing enough. When we really are. You may never know the impact you have on just 11 followers. You also are on YOUR own journey. The more you’re worried about others’ journeys, the more you miss out on your own!

3. Take deep breaths & ask for help.
— outsource, network, socialize. Be a part of something. Don’t be too prideful to ask for help. Doing it alone may seem more powerful but that isn’t always the case.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Better Body with Tati – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I have a Bachelors in Health Promotion. Certified Personal Trainer through ACE and Fitness Nutrition Specialist through NASM.

I do in-person small group training fitness coaching and Bootcamp instruction at Pulse Fitness in Scottsdale, AZ.

I also do personalized online fitness coaching, known as Better Body with Tati.

Alongside this, I have created a Booty Builder program and plan on creating more programs in the future.

I am most proud of the clients I have equipped so far with lifestyle changes. All of my online clients I have had who did 8-16 weeks with me have learned how to make health and fitness a LIFESTYLE. Not a quick and unhealthy fix to drop weight fast. Many, if not all, of them, are still living healthier lives even beyond our training together. I also implement these real-life habits within my in-person training with my small group training clients. It makes me happy to see people set goals outside of solely their appearance, such as their energy levels, their hormones getting back in check, their ability to play golf better, their ability to get on and off the floor more efficiently, etc.

As a fitness coach, what sets me apart from others is that I know health and wellness goes BEYOND nutrition and exercise. I want to [and currently do] shed more light onto spiritual and emotional wellness and how this plays a HUGE role in a healthy lifestyle. It’s time to open ourselves to more! I also want to destroy any ideas that a personal trainer is above their clients; all of my clients are on equal grounds and are truly some of my closest friends. Real relationships go far in client success.

There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
I have been lucky to have clients and friends who are very involved in the networking scene and have reached out to me regarding events they are either hosting or attending and ask me if I’m interested.

However, when I don’t have that available to me, using Google is a beautiful thing! Look for events near you that interest you. Use social media to stay in the loop with events that people you look up to are hosting.

Also, this doesn’t necessarily point anyone in the direction of finding a mentor but it is a good reminder, and that is to remember the importance of investing in yourself. Sometimes, you have to spend time and money on educating yourself and growing as an individual and professional. If you have the means to do so, this is not money wasted.

What a beautiful example of strength, dedication and whole body connection Tatiana Britton is to the world of us ladies! Her story is not just any ole story – it is of commitment in all she does without relenting! She exemplifies the best she can be and always pushing herself – no matter the challenge – Tatiana is up to it and will give her all. Rock On Tati! You are an inspiration to this 57 year old with major physical challenges, but you give me the strength to keep on keeping on regarding my daily Home Program of physical therapy. A small thing to some, but you “get it” and everyone’s own challenges to Never Quit, Never Give Up. Thanks for always inspiring me!
