Life and Work with Stacie Lang

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacie Lang.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Stacie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Almost four years ago, I had just had my 3rd daughter. I was itching for a creative outlet since recently phasing out of our six-year-long side business as wedding photographers. Geoff and I knew we loved working together, and we always dreamt of different ways that we could work together from home full time. At the time, Geoff was at a consuming 9-5, and that grind really solidified the fact that we wanted a different lifestyle for our family—one with a more flexible schedule, one with more control over our own success, and mostly, one where we were able to spend as much time together as a family as possible. Having all girls and love for clothing, a girls clothing line just made sense! We set out to LA one weekend to find a manufacturer and the rest is history!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The combination of no idea what I was doing + three tiny kids + no money definitely did not make for smooth roads! Each day provided a new obstacle, and as much as I wish I could say the growing pains are over and I’ve mastered the art of running a small business, I can not! I’m still learning each day and figuring out how to overcome obstacles that come with growing a business, but that’s sort of what keeps things exciting. 😉

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Alice + Ames – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I own a kids clothing label, specializing in girls clothes ages 2T-10. All our manufacturing is based out of LA, which means my family and I get to travel to and from quite a bit. Being a Mom of three young girls, I really try to focus on styles that are playful, comfortable, classic, and pieces that both parents and children can love and agree on. My husband helps me full time, and together, we work from home, as well as our downtown Gilbert studio space.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
My favorite podcast has always been Guy Raz’s “How I Built This.” I love hearing entrepreneurs stories of how they got started and it’s always encouraging to hear their struggles along the way.
