Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Schloss.

Michelle, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Lucky Cat Social Art was founded with the idea that life’s special moments can be celebrated by making art. We make art very accessible by providing all the supplies for on-trend art projects and walking you step by step through the process and we also make party planning super easy by taking care of all the details including a hostess to run the party. We set up the party, provide the fun and break it all down. We love hosting birthday parties for kids and adults, bridal showers, baby showers, and corporate events. We have canvas art projects and crafting projects too like pallet wood signs and concrete mini planters.

In the last year, we have gone mobile and can come to you or your favorite venue. It’s been fantastic to serve more areas of our hometown of Tucson from the Northwest side all the way to Southeast and every where in between. Just as important is mixing in education with the fun! I come from a teaching background and use my training to design classes that are very clear, organized yet fun! I pass on my teaching techniques to my wonderfully enthusiastic staff. Each one is a trained artist instructor or host/artist assistant and many are already licensed teachers or are studying to be teachers. Lately, I have been hired to do more speaking engagements.  I love to share my knowledge on how to use art to team build in the work place or how to use art to build better relationships or stronger communities. I am excited about the growth of my business.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It is all about the pivot and being fluid and adaptable. We had a storefront studio for two and a half years and realized most of our clients used us over and over for their special occasions like birthday parties or family reunions and the need to have a space for public painting and crafting events was not in line with what our clients were using is for. They loved the attention to detail and care that we put into their private parties and we could do that in any venue including their home or favorite restaurant. Just because we had an idea of how we should run our business, the ability to adapt was key to remaining in business without the studio space.

Please tell us about Lucky Cat Social Art.
We host mobile arts and crafts parties for special occasions and also corporate events. We set it all up, bring the fun and break it all down. We really care about the whole experience and we take extra care to make you look like a superstar party planner except we do all the work! In addition to having really fun and unique canvas paint parties that can even be custom made by our in-house artists, we also love to provide keepsake craft opportunities at various events to include festivals and charitable events. It is a thoughtful touch to offer our crafting setup as a respite spot for kids and adults that just need a break! We strive to design projects that are thoughtful and custom to the event. We really love to wow our clients and their friends or family! We realize that you are choosing us to make your special occasion even more special, so we love to deliver that!

Who have you been inspired by?
I am constantly inspired by women. My friends have been my cheerleaders and one, in particular, was such a huge motivator. She sent me inspirational gifts in the beginning stages of me starting my business. I’ll never forget her encouragement.

The women in my family have pushed me through difficult times. They are so strong!

Because of my business, I have met so many other women in business and I learn from them through their experiences and guidance.

I look at famous women in business and allow myself to dream big and go for it just like them.

Pricing:

• Private parties $250-$350 for up to 10 people. Additional cost for additional participants and discounts offered for large parties.
• Corporate training and speaking fee starts at $50 per hour.
