Life & Work with Meredith Comfort

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meredith Comfort.

Hi Meredith, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have loved art and photography for as long as I can remember! While it was always a hobby, I started working as a professional photographer in 2009. In the beginning I focused primarily on weddings and events with my husband as my second shooter. The business naturally grew from word of mouth referrals, with portraits, babies, architectural and more.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Well, I would say it has been pretty smooth except for the multiple pregnancies over an eight year span. That did throw some curve balls as I was building a strong business! Otherwise, the daily challenge in owning a business will always be the life balance between family and work. I have three beautiful girls that are the center of the universe for me! However, I can easily work seven days a week in the busy seasons so finding the right amount of time for both can be difficult.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
For me the magic of photography is getting that perfect blend of lighting, composition, and the joy of the subject. Whether it’s a newborn’s smile, a mother’s hug, or a bride’s kiss, the thrill of capturing that moment and preserving it for years to come is what keeps me driven. We all try to leave the world better than we found it, and my contribution is taking memories and making them art. I like to think that my creativity, and ability to help the clients relax and have fun are my strengths. I specialize in portraits; specifically families, couples, maternity, babies, graduation sessions, and headshots. I also do weddings, commercial and private events, architectural photography, and even some product photography.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up in central Phoenix and I am proud to be native! My family is incredible and we are all very close. We even all still live fairly close to each other, and get together regularly. My father is an architect and my mother was a music teacher so our house was always full of creativity. I played the piano, and I loved coloring, drawing, reading, and writing.
