Life and Work with Linde Perelli

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linde Perelli.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Having always been obsessed with art and design; I studied and started my career as a Visual Merchandiser and Window Dresser of both Fashion and Interiors in the Midwest, landing for some time at Marshall Fields and then Saks Fifth Avenue in Chicago where I gained my greatest experience.

I was immersed in the theater of fashion, mannequins, cosmetic events, large fashion show set-ups and personal appearances for designers such as Emmanuel Ungaro, Oscar de la Renta, and Badgley Mischka. I then went on to focus on Home Decor and Interiors, doing Display work and store set-up prototypes nationally, while owning my own Home Interior Design and Staging business.

During those years on the road, I toted along watercolors and a sketchbook. experimenting and slowly developing my own style of portraiture. It was my stress relief and pure joy and still is today. I am forever inspired by the colors, fashions, and style of different periods in history, fantasy photo-shoots, and beautiful interior settings. It is still a surprise to see my girls come to life as I finish them.

I am lucky today to be able to live a double life in both worlds; working as an In-House Design Specialist for Arhaus at Kierland Commons and for myself with Loulie Art in sunny Scottsdale, creating my flowery femmes.

Has it been a smooth road?
My career has always been exciting, fast-paced, and very full time. I have struggled over the years with having enough energy and time to do it all. I still strive to find the balance but try to give myself a break when I can.

No matter how far women’s roles have come over the years, we still tend to take on all the tasks and problems around us. It’s in our nature.

My advice to young women starting out would be to realize that and try to stay focused on YOUR goals. Time goes by faster than you can imagine, and when you look back, you should feel like you spent your life pursuing your dreams. (Not other’s expectations of you.)

And my advice to any creative women out there: Take business classes! It’s worth its weight in gold. (I’ve had to learn the hard way 😉

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
My art is a combination of digital, watercolor, colored pencil, charcoal, acrylic, pastel, and conte’ crayon focusing on whimsical female portraiture. Often they are soft-focus and fantasy inspired. I love being able to express myself through this medium and live somewhat vicariously through these girls.

My Interior Design work is based at Arhaus and focuses on their unique look of eclectic and transitional home decor. My work encompasses many looks from traditional, to boho, to contemporary with an emphasis on bringing out my client’s unique personality. I pride myself on really listening to my guests wants and needs and getting to know them (the fun part), so I can deliver a home space that truly expresses who they are.

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
I was raised in the Midwest by Baby Boomer parents. This translates to an expectation that you will show up, work hard, and be responsible.
