Life and Work with Lesley Cain

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lesley Cain.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lesley. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and am a Georgetown University McDonough Business School graduate. I majored in Marketing and minored in English. After graduating from Georgetown University, I began a career in sales and marketing in the consumer packaged goods industry. A life-changing experience with Gerson Therapy in 2000 prompted me to change my diet and lifestyle, then embark on a career in holistic health as a massage therapist. While I was working as a massage therapist, a co-worker got me into commercial acting and modeling. That was over 15 years ago! Since then, big name brands have used my image and talent for numerous television and online commercials, print ads, corporate videos, voice-over clips, and modeling projects, both regionally and nationally. I also act as emcee for live events and moderate panel discussions and political debates from coast to coast. I love helping my clients bring their visions to life!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My road has not been a smooth one, nor has it been a straight one. When I initially pursued modeling, I was rejected. It wasn’t until after I changed my diet, lifestyle (including cutting all of my hair into a short, natural style), and career, that I got into this business. In addition, watching my mother-in-law lose her courageous battle with cancer is something that I will never forget. In 2014, my own health status was uncertain, when I went through major surgery and a cancer scare. Unlike my mother-in-law, my situation had a favorable outcome. Although they were painful to go through, each of these challenges prompted me to learn and grow, personally and professionally. As a result, I have been able to help others by sharing what I have learned along the way.

I would advise other women, particularly young women who are just starting their journey, to focus on their own path; be patient with their place, pace, and process; keep learning; and share their experiences with others, as you never know who it may help.

Please tell us about your business.
I am an actress, host, holistic health enthusiast, and plant-based lifestyle advocate.

I am proud to be trusted by national brands on numerous projects and, in many cases, to have them request me for additional work.

I believe that my corporate background in sales and marketing, combined with over 15 years of experience in front of the camera, sets me apart and is the perfect recipe for professional results.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
I think that the most important piece of advice that I could give to a young woman just starting her career is to resolve to evolve. I believe that it is important to embrace change because change brings opportunities for growth. It isn’t necessary to have everything in your life all figured out. In fact, it is almost impossible to do that. Instead, I suggest committing yourself to learn as much as you can where you are currently. Immerse yourself in your current role, get training, connect with a peer group, and find mentors. Then, apply all of the lessons that you’ve learned to the next stage of your career.
