Today we’d like to introduce you to Kurtis Toolson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kurtis. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The Chunk idea started one night when my wife and I were craving cookies but did not want to take the time to make, bake, and clean up everything. Through that craving, Chunk Cookies was born. 🙂 We wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to order and have them dropped off right to their door, still warm! So, we went to work and figured out everything we needed to get the business off the ground and ready to deliver happiness in a box.

Because of our craving, we knew this couldn’t be just a normal “come to a store and buy cookies”, we wanted it delivered fast and still warm, to make it as convenient and delicious as possible, so that’s what we did. We have only been in business for four months so we still have a lot of growing to do and plan on expanding to more stores and more delivery zip codes so we can reach as many of our customers as possible.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
But the real challenge was just getting our name out there and having people try our product. I knew if we could just get these delicious cookies in the mouths of the people with a sweet tooth, we would grow from word of mouth. Fortunately for us, social media has also been huge and the real reason for our name getting out there. People are able to post about their experience and how much they loved our cookies to all their friends and family, who then, in turn, order and try our cookies. Although we are still small, we continue to grow every day and we have big plans to bring these cookies across the valley.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Chunk Cookies – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
What sets Chunk Cookies apart are a few things. First, the fact that we deliver cookies to your doorstep and no one else does that yet, is a huge plus. Second, we don’t just make normal chocolate chips cookies. Our cookies are all hand weighed to 6oz, so almost a half pound each! Third, not only are they huge, but they are delivered warm and within an hour.

The way we do it is we set up our deliveries every 30 minutes. For example, when you order you can choose for your cookies to be delivered between 5:00-5:30 or 5:30-6:00 and you only need to order an hour in advance. That way if you are having that craving late at night, we can rush you some cookies to satisfy that sweet tooth.

We also take great care and responsibility to and for our team members who deliver the cookies. We want our Chunk Cookies experience to be great from the ordering process, all the way to the person who hands you those giant, warm, delicious cookies. Most companies hire anyone who’s willing to work for them but not us, we take the time to hire only the people who would be great at this job and who love to leave a smile on a customers face. 🙂

So, I would say with all those great features from our cookie recipe all the way to our customer service, is what sets us apart from anyone else.

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
I have always wanted to work for my self, there was no experience I had when I was young. I just had a lot of jobs working for companies, some of them really great companies, but I always felt that I would never truly find what makes me happy unless I started and grew a company my self.
