Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Esteban.
Jill, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My blog started in 2012 when I was pregnant with our daughter. I started my blog to keep our family who mostly lives out of state up to date with my pregnancy and our family happenings. From there, my passion for writing, photography, interior design, and style blossomed. Since I first started, we’ve added three boys to our family- Cayson (three years old) and twins, Conrad and Cohen (11 months). I’ve become passionate about sharing my story and encouraging other women and mothers along the way. I also love the idea of keeping an ongoing journal for my family and children to look back on. As a stay at home mom to four kiddos, I’ve found that blogging is a fun and creative outlet as well as an opportunity to connect with so many other amazing women and mothers.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges for me has been digging deep discovering what is at my core, sticking to that, and then sharing my heart and passion with others along the way. Putting my art and thoughts out into the world can be daunting because it can set myself up for criticism. Sharing my heart through my words, images, interior design, my journey and struggles through pregnancy and motherhood can be difficult. My advice to young women is to keep showing up. It’s not going to be perfect and be prepared to make mistakes. Keep doing the things that make the butterflies in your stomach flutter. Do what you love no matter what that is and have the courage to share that with the world; someone out there needs what only you can provide. Keep showing up and get ready for an exciting adventure.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I share the things I’m most passionate about including motherhood, marriage, interior design, style and photography through social media. I share advice, home makeovers, and styling as well as my favorite places to shop and products and brands that my family and I love. My hope is that my readers leave my site encouraged and inspired.
I’m different than others because of my personal journey and my ability to share that. I grew up in Nebraska and after college moved to Arizona on a whim. I filled my car with all that I owned until I could no longer see out of my windows and hit the road by myself with printed out MapQuest directions in hand. I worked in Corporate America, met my husband, and we started building our lives together. I think finding the balance of raising four children five years and under (including twins) and juggling family life and careers is relatable to my readers. I’ve built a brand based on my style, story, and life. We’ve fallen in love with Arizona and like to share all that this awesome state has to offer.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
To a young woman just starting her career, I would encourage her to try different avenues until she finds what fits. It’s okay to experiment and it’s okay to fail. Those roadblocks will ultimately lead you to your heart’s desire. Trust life’s timing and enjoy the ride.
