Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackiee Marshell.
Jackiee, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I fell in love with photography about twelve years ago. I would fill up my digital camera with so many pictures I constantly ran out if space. When I got my first digital camera, I cherished and always had it with me. Later, I started a photography course and learned how to use photo editing software and basic animation. I would spend hours of my free time retouching photos and trying different techniques. Thankfully, I have an amazing man in my life who supports my dreams and encourages me to try my hardest. As a mother of two, I am inspired to work hard and accomplish my dreams so I can show my kids they can do the same. I grew up very close to my grandfather, an artist, and businessman, he always inspired me to pursue my passions and better myself artistically. After he passed away I decided to indulge more in the arts, right now, I’m focusing on bettering myself as a photographer but I would love to get more into fashion design as well.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Having social anxiety sometimes makes it difficult but I realize now there are many women who can relate to me. I realize I’m not alone in my anxiety and that if I’m open about it I can help others as well as help myself. Photography has helped me break out of my shell and meet new people and I love that. My advice would be to try to be authentic to who you because that’s the only way to really make it in this industry and you may inspire others in the process.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with JKL Images – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I offer photoshoots that tailored to fit the model/client’s personality. I want them to feel comfortable and satisfied with our photoshoots. Most importantly, I want them to feel confident. I love seeing people feel good about themselves and I want that to show in my photography. I try to focus on colors, texture, and detail to evoke certain moods and emotions in my art.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Whenever I feel like I need to freshen my outlook on life, I read the Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. Other than that, I am constantly reading blogs about photography and researching different techniques.
