Life and Work with Franzi Kueck

Today we’d like to introduce you to Franzi Kueck.

Franzi, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was fascinated by colors, lines, and the possibilities of the combinations as a kid. Growing up in Taiwan, my parents always told me that an office job is ideal. I tried my best to oblige, working as an office secretary for a number of years, but I just couldn’t forget about my dream of being an artist. After finding the small canvases of my nails, I started to go to classes to improve my skills. When I can’t sleep at night or find new ideas, I stay up all night and just do nails! After years of practice, classes, and research into the ingredients of the polishes used in the industry, I realized that the salons on the corner only care about how fast they can get nails done, but not the products or the minute details in nail art design. But I still believe there are people out there who care what products are used on their nails and how the effort put into the designs. I want to share my art and passion with the world.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Moving here with my family without knowing anyone was not easy; it took a long time to slowly make connections with nice people. But I’ve always tried my best and work towards my dream. My English is not perfect and I sometimes have trouble following the conversation, but I hope that my passion for nails and care for people shine through. I want my visitors to feel relaxed and pampered. I’m still building my clientele. It’s a rough road and I try to be persistent despite knowing it will take a while. But just like with my art, I challenge myself to get better all the time. It can be frustrating sometimes, but that’s okay as long as you can chase your passion.

Please tell us about Pixi Nails AZ.
After many years of practicing nail art, I’m making progress with Disney characters and 3D nail art. Once I’m in the zone, I’m all in. Vibrant marble, detailed lace, flowers, reproducing pieces of classic art (Gustav Klimt is one of my favorites)–I love all challenges! Nail art is what makes me happy. My happiness is beyond words when clients come back and tell me how many compliments they received.
