Life and Work with Erica Diloreto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Diloreto.

Erica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ever since I was a little girl, I had always been passionate about the Beauty Industry! I can recall growing up playing dress up, putting on my mom’s makeup and being the overall definition of a “girly girl.”

I enrolled in Cosmetology School during my final year of high school but upon completion of my program, I was still uncertain of what niche I wanted to focus. I dabbled in several different beauty trades trying to find my way, including hair, nails and even waxing but I wasn’t truly passionate about any of those positions.

It was in 2015 when I was first introduced to the world of Eyelash Artistry and I knew this was the opportunity I genuinely wanted to pursue! Prior to opening my studio LASHED, I gained my knowledge and expertise at several lash studios around the Valley.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road to success is never a smooth one however nothing worth having is supposed to come easy. One consistent issue I see for females starting off in the Beauty Industry is they often times struggle to fill their books. With social media as readily available as it is, I think tools like Instagram give small business owners an opportunity to create free content showcasing their work and promoting their products/services on a platform like never before.

Please tell us about LASHED.
As an experienced Lash Artist, my specialty is in Volume and Mega Volume Eyelash Extensions. Recently, I’ve seen a tremendous amount of success within Lash Corrections as so many females are coming to me for a “Lash Rescue” after a previous bad experience with another artist.

I pride myself in educating my clients and social media followers on the proper application and aftercare methods to keep your lashes healthy!

There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that a lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
There are so many inspiring people and pages out there in the Beauty Industry! Find like-minded individuals who share similar content to you and engage with those artists and networks. One of the best things I ever did for my business was to get into a studio space with other artists; the opportunity to learn and collaborate with other women and small business owners has helped me grow significantly!
