Life and Work with Ciantha Cranshaw

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciantha Cranshaw.

Ciantha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
There are many different roads to every journey in life. My journey begins as an assistant to a woman who was a hairstylist as well as the salon owner. At that time, my responsibilities were washing hair, folding towels and sweeping hair off the floor. Now, those jobs may seem menial to some, but it was in those days of sweeping up hair and answering the phone that I learned discipline, color, styling, and excellence. I’m very grateful for this mentor. She was always willing to share her knowledge never intimidated to teach me all that she knew. Because of that, I have a heart for mentorship teaching those who are coming up behind me.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, the road has not been smooth. Entrepreneurship is never easy, especially in a business where you are serving others. You are constantly sacrificing your own wants and needs for others, it is your life. The biggest struggles have been after self-evaluation and changing, it’s necessary. Sometimes, changing will be smooth but most of the time it’s a challenge and it may cost you time and money. You always come out better and wiser every time. It’s worth it when you see how much you have grown after each obstacle. My advice to my sisters would be to stay self-aware and never be too proud to learn and change. Pride will block you from the abundant blessings God intended for you.

Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Some of my specialties are lace wigs, extensions, and color, especially blondes and Balayage. I also work with natural hair, hair growth, and health. Becoming a Co-owner at the young age of 23 allows me to create and comprehend the business side of the hair. I currently have a brand called Glamour Chicc. This brand helps me to expand my business into other areas.

I know this may sound cliche but I do love what I do. I have done plenty of overnight sessions 24 even 48 hour days straight taking clients and working on wigs and I am totally ok with that, and it shows in my work.

Who have you been inspired by?
My mom Enid Moore-Cranshaw. She has always inspired and supported me, all the way down to buying Divinity Beauty Bar for me. I learned from her to never quit anything, just figure it out. Growing up, I used to watch her do a million things at once like she had a magic wand. She is still in that mindset today. She has a full-time career in finance and finds time for things that impact the community. She recently finished her terms as Board President at Headstart in Southern Arizona, and District3 Director in Toastmasters International now going for International Director. She is also 3rd Vice president at Tucson Lions Breakfast Club, and host her own monthly podcast Journey Radio. My mom is also training to prepare to run for office with Emerge of Arizona. So, look out for a run for Governor in 2022!

My other mother sister, friend, and Pastor Adina Kring is my ride or die. She inspires me with her kindness and how she draws people to her, I swear she knows 20 peoples life stories have prayed for them and taken 1 to lunch and 2 to dinner by the end of each day. She is truly blessed to be a blessing. She has traveled the world speaking to and touching women and youth while launching her church with her husband. I can’t wait to see how many lives she touches with the Kingdom Culture Community Church.

My mentor and friend Kellie Kongnso have been the main factor in revamping my career in 2018.
As Lash Factor Studio owner, I watched her create LFSACADEMY. I watched her work long hours in the studio and travel to attend multiple pieces of training from the best artist worldwide every month for over a year. She came out with 29+ certificates in permanent makeup and 9+ in lashes. She has inspired me to do the same and expand my knowledge. It’s really changed my career for the better. She is the definition of Girl Boss in my world.
