Life and Work with Chelsi Moore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsi Moore.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Coming into a place where I knew I could run a company really happened with a super small idea, that turned in to a dream, that grew into a lot of hard work, which eventually turned into an event and floral design business. Growing up with extremely hard working parents, I came by it naturally to dedicate myself to any task at hand, but knowing the particulars of entrepreneurship was completely foreign. As I began to think about what this journey toward my dream really entailed, I knew I couldn’t go at it alone. I knew I had to have a partner, and my mom was the perfect person. Her creativity had been foundational for me as a child and since we do most of our life together anyway, it just felt right. Over the years, we have met a lot of people who have encouraged us, some have not been as kind, but I truly believe in the road we have paved for others dreaming similar dreams. To us, it’s not about how much money you make at your trade or whether or not you have to have a part-time job to support your endeavors, but rather that you are creating depth in the life you’re living. Becoming a successful business owner looks very different to everyone so always remembering how valuable the process is to keep us focused on what really matters.

Has it been a smooth road?
The way I see it is Attitude + Commitment = Wild Success, so if something is failing you, it’s time to take a look at one of those things. I have experienced a lot of days when giving up was an absolute option. Let’s be frank for a moment, the days are long, the work is hard, being vulnerable is challenging, schedules are busy, and self-doubt is real. Under no circumstances will any of these challenges ever have a fighting chance to get you down if you are committed and have a positive attitude. Women are strong, and in this moment of our culture, we all have the opportunity to be exactly what we want to be. Outwork the hardest work you thought you could do, and never let a single word of negativity hang around longer than it takes to dismiss it.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Two Lemons In Love – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Being an event and floral design company means that we really care about what your special day looks like. Primarily, we focus on weddings because love stories make us happy. It’s one of the most pivotal days in everyone’s lives and we want to help make that celebration as beautiful as possible. We love getting to know our couples in a way that makes it easy for us to convey their love story through details. Picking out the perfect flowers, linen textures and colors, invitations, lighting, and all the other options on a wedding day can be overwhelming. We take great pride in showing our clients that it can absolutely be enjoyable being engaged and planning a wedding. I think the one thing we are most proud of as a company is that we are family run. My mom and I spearhead the company, but my husband and daughter, best friends, and other family members are always involved in some way or another. It is a great feeling knowing that the love our family has plays a role in the love our couples have for one another.

Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
I truly believe that the biggest barrier to female leadership today are the perceptions we hold in our own minds. There are many circumstances where barriers are real, and there are obstacles that need to be overcome, but by far and large we can become who we want to be. I see the pockets of injustice still lurking, but I also know that there are women gathering all around America in conference rooms speaking on leadership and entrepreneurship, and women are well on their way. The only thing we need to be able to attain our dreams is ownership of the way we see ourselves. Leave the self-doubt behind you and blaze that trail girl, your success is just around the corner.
