Life and Work with Amber Fessette

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Fessette.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up on my family’s dairy farm in Upstate NY. I originally moved to Arizona for college and the warmer weather. Coming from a small town, I was really fascinated by all the opportunity a larger city has to offer. I went into nursing because I have a passion for helping others. Once I finished nursing school, I started to get back into fitness again and concentrate on my own health. I have since been combining my two passions for the medical field and the fitness industry. I am currently back in school for my NP and started fitness modeling and fitness influencing through my Instagram @afitfessette. I find fashion, photography, and social media very creative. From there, I began another creative endeavor to start my own business, AFit Aesthetics. Medical aesthetics combines my two passions together with a focus on holistic, preventative health and beauty.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but it is getting smoother. It was not always easy coming from a small town to acclimate to a large area. When I first moved to Arizona, I did not know a single soul and it was difficult not having any family around. It also took me a while to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with my life. Now that I have found my passion, I am very grateful. My advice for anyone who is starting their journey is to first find out what truly interests them and brings them joy. Embracing what you’re passionate about and turning it into a career is beyond rewarding. We spend so much of our lives working, why would you want to waste it doing something you don’t love. It’s not always going to be easy, but if you love what you do, it’ll give you the perseverance to overcome the challenges and follow your dreams.

AFit Aesthetics specializes in preventative health and beauty. We offer Botox/Dysport, Microneedling, PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy, and Hormone replacement therapy. AFit Aesthetics will also be adding chemical peels, vitamin shots, and fillers. This practice is about looking and feeling great. As a service provider, I am most proud to offer my clients specific consultations to their individual needs and to help them look and feel their best. What sets me apart from others is my overwhelming passion to help my clients reach their health and beauty goals. I do that by making sure that I am well educated and by staying up-to-date on all the best and most current beauty treatments and trends. Being an expert in this field means that I will be able to help most people and provide the best results for my clients.

Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
I think the more time goes on, the more we see strong female leaders in business, in the cinema, in athletics, and in all occupations. This is something I am truly proud to see and as a society, we have come a long way from previous generations, but we still have further to go. Gender bias, stereotyping, and traditional structural barriers can still make it hard for women to be themselves and pursue their goals. Culturally for women, we are still sometimes taught to play down to men or taught that we are in constant competition with other women. Neither of which is true. As women leaders, we must help lift up other women. There is room for everyone at the top.
