Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Shaheen Siddiqui of Chandler

We recently had the chance to connect with Shaheen Siddiqui and have shared our conversation below.

Shaheen, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately I have been truly enjoying traveling any chance I get! As my kids are getting older and busier, making the most of the time we have together has been the focus, so any chance we are able to we try to get out and travel as a family.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Shaheen Siddiqui, and I am a physical therapist and owner of Crossroads Orthopedic Physical Therapy in Chandler.

I’ve been a PT for over 20 years, and for the first 13 years of my practice I worked in typical clinic settings where I ended up treating 4 patients per hour – but after awhile of doing this I thought, there has to be a better way! I felt I wasn’t able to give enough time or quality care to each patient. So, about 9 years ago, while sitting at a dinner with my husband and kiddos – I decided I would take a chance and start my own practice. It was definitely scary – so many questions and doubts ran through my head, but it was the best career decision that I have made!

My practice is located inside of an amazing gym, Flo Yoga and Cycle, in downtown Chandler. I provide one on one physical therapy for people that are dealing with acute or chronic pain or injuries. My treatment sessions, depending on what’s going on with the patient, may include hands on manual therapy, exercise and strengthening, cupping therapy or dry needling.

I also offer a membership to my Wellness Program, which people can join if they want to continue to strengthen and prevent pain and injuries from coming back. It’s a great way to take care of aches and pains before they become a problem!

I absolutely love what I do and am so grateful for the opportunity to help people stay healthy and pain free!

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents have most definitely been the ones to teach me the most about work. They moved to America over 50 years ago from India, knowing very little about this country or the culture. With minimal resources, they started a business that developed into a successful family business, which they had for 35 years.

From an early age, I watched them work so diligently to make their business succeed – all while raising a family. I also worked within the business throughout high school and college, so I saw first hand how much work it took to make their business successful. They had unbelievable work ethic, amazing rapport with their customers and suppliers, and were so kind and generous to anyone that they came in contact with.

I am so grateful to my parents for those experiences, as it taught me so much about owning a business – and I try to apply those same principles they taught me to my business today.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
To believe in myself no matter what!

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Being genuine and authentic in everything one does, no matter what. That is probably the most important thing to me, to be true to myself and my values no matter what the situation!

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace anytime I am out in nature, whether its at the beach or in the mountains, I love to hike and do anything outdoors, so that is what brings me the most peace.
