Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with richard pines

We’re looking forward to introducing you to richard pines. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning richard, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
All three are extremely important. But if I had to single one out exclusively, it would have to be integrity. You can be the smartest person. You can have energy, within your business or community, but it really means nothing if you do not have integrity. Respect is key. And a person’s word means everything.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
RicMel Productions has produced multiple award winning films. Our latest, a documentary on Anna May Wong, the first Chinese American movie star.. which is currently on the Film Festival circuit worldwide. I am presently in pre production. For our next picture-Silveflatts to be shot early 2026. Award winning Bequest was recently licensed and is currently available on fawesome.tv I recently started a new Film Festival-Golden Pictures short film Festival. This festival will create an opportunity for filmakers to have their work recognized.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Joining the United States Marine Corps in 1976.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
The loss of my dad. And working every day through the film industry, hoping. That he’s looking down and proud of his son.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Clark Gable. A Hollywood powerhouse in the 1930s. Clark Gable was a man that was not centered on himself. He cared deeply about others. If you were in a conversation with Clark Gable, he centered that conversation around you, not himself. A trait that is sorely lacking in today’s industry.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
When I am quietly at home tonight with my beautiful wife of 20 years. I am a firm believer in behind. Every good man is a good woman.
