Rachel DAcquisto shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Rachel, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Get my kids ready to roll with me to the brewery. Arrive to talk shop and game plan the day before we head out to accounts. My kids usually come to accounts with me. We will typically wrap something they wanna do in before heading back to the brewery! We like to say: “Ray Ray’s All Day!”
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Rachel D’acquisto, creator of Ray Ray’s Sonoran Spirit Tea. Ray Ray’s is a quality, craft, hard tea, made right here in Arizona. This was born from a signiture drink I used to make as a bartender. It grew so popular that it became my dream/obesession to share it with more people. I started working with small business resources and mentors to learn how to make that a reality. The quality of ingredients are my focus. We draw inspiration from regional Sonoran ingredients, like hibiscus and agave. My dedication to the folks who enjoy our drinks brings me great joy, being part of life’s moments and memory making was always my favorite part of sharing a drink with others. We offer Original and Prickly Pear flavors statewide and our limited summer Citrus Green Tea, is about to be released!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I had dreamed of starting this company for many years before I made any movement in the direction. I was in a loop of needing to know how to start and the shame of not, preventing me. The restaurant I was working for hosted an event with local business owners. I was in a leadership position and spent the majority of my days having all the answers and being my best. After this event, one of the speakers changed my entire outlook. I decided to talk to them about my idea. They simply told me they can’t help, but people are nicer than I think. Start having conversations with folks in the industry I want to get into, the dot’s will start to connect. That brief moment in casual conversation, allowed me to give myself permission to not be perfect and to get started!
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I think about my purpose and if I should keep going, everytime I hit a hard part in the journey. A friend of mine used to tell me, “I can’t stop, I’ve already started”. Every problem has many solutions and as long as I keep going, things tend to work out.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
The great part of being the face of my brand is sharing what my family and I can do. I have an immense sense of pride in what we have built and sharing the building process with folks.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
