Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Michael Banovac of Phoenix

Michael Banovac shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Michael , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Energy for me has always been paramount! I love constantly learning from those around me and I appreciate creativity in all aspects of life and business. This appreciation for energy could be interpreted in the context of my profession as a real estate agent and luxury home builder. The real estate market, particularly the luxury segment in areas like Paradise Valley, is known for its dynamism and fast pace. A high degree of energy and an understanding of market trends are crucial for success in this environment. And even though intelligence and integrity are very important as well, I feel most people match the energy that you put into any given project or relationship.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is, Michael Banovac, and I pride myself as a figure in the luxury real estate sector.

Starting RMB Luxury with my father presented early challenges. Adapting from a comfortable lifestyle to living in a small condo after college instilled humility and the importance of relationships after the 2008 crash, and this struggle ultimately drove me towards success in all that I do. I have an unwavering drive to constantly be learning, evolving, and growing.

I’ve been in the work force now for over 18 years, and I’ve have developed expertise in real estate, marketing, and internet entrepreneurship sectors. I also co-authored a book in 2017 on relationships.

Collaborating with my father and other partners led to me the acquisition, construction, remodeling, and sale of numerous homes, valued at hundreds of millions of dollars. This experience has provided valuable insights into the luxury market as a whole, from building and design to setting real estate and interior design trends, and integrating cutting-edge technology into homes.

The Michael Banovac brand is built on the principle of converting earned income into lasting wealth through strategic real estate investments and other cash flowing assets. I have always emphasized a focus on long-term rental properties and development, highlighting the benefits of safe leverage in building financial independence.

It’s always been my dream and dedication to guide others toward financial freedom, sharing knowledge and strategies gained throughout my journey. My ultimate goal is to empower individuals to make informed investment decisions and increase their net worth so they can create the life they’ve always dreamed of!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My parents taught me the importance of grit and early on I understood the work reward model. The more I did that benefited my future and those around me the more I got rewarded and anything I did to detract from that was met with unwanted results.

My parents always held me in a very high light. They expected me to preform and even when I didn’t, taught me the importance of getting up and trying again. Not to be afraid of embarrassment or ridicule, and not to be afraid to be different.

As I got older I realized that failure was just a pit-stop on the road to success. It’s an important part of the process and one should never shy away from it.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I think when you fail at anything in life it’s how you cope with that failure that defines everything! I’ve been broken up with, I’ve been broke (not poor), I’ve been made fun of, and I’ve been rejected. I’m sure many of the readers can relate! But it was in those moments I learned to cope with the rejection or the failure and learn what to do the next time around. It was an invaluable lesson that I’ve carried with me throughout my life!

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
No, my public persona is very different from my private one. Client and public facing I project a luxury image that loves to explore and learn what the best of life has to offer. In private, I love great conversations, eating at home, and spending time with family & friends. I’m truly an introverted extrovert. I love people, but I also love my alone time!

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I would want people to remember me as someone who was passionate about my work/family/friends, driven to achieve his goals, committed to helping others, and always striving to learn and grow.

I always fully believed if I could achieve big dreams, others could too. I think that would be one of my biggest takeaways!
