Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Marcia Hamilton of Northwest Phoenix

Marcia Hamilton shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Marcia, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I usually starts at 5AM , I begin in stillness, offering a prayer of gratitude and surrender to Jesus Christ.

Asking Him to guide my thoughts, words, and actions, starting my day this way determine the outcome of the rest of my day.

I take time to review my goals and prioritize tasks that align with my vision. I like dress with confidence, and walk into my day knowing that I am capable, creative, and in control.

A positive mindset isn’t just motivation,it’s a strategy for winning the day with grace and determination.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Marcia Hamilton, and I’m the founder and lead designer of MarHam Dezigns, a custom fashion and sewing studio based in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona. As a fashion designer and seamstress, I specialize in creating one-of-a-kind garments that reflect each client’s unique personality, body type, and lifestyle.
From bridal alterations to custom everyday wear, I blend craftsmanship with creativity to make pieces that are both wearable and unforgettable.
My journey began with a love for sewing handed down through generations, and over time, I’ve transformed that passion into a business rooted in purpose, precision, and personal style.

What makes MarHam Dezigns truly unique is the combination of traditional tailoring skills with a deep understanding of modern fashion needs. Every stitch tells a story—whether it’s helping a bride feel confident on her big day or designing custom pieces for clients who can’t find their style off the rack.
I’m currently working on expanding my ready-to-wear line that blends cultural heritage with contemporary design, all while continuing to serve my community with personalized service and attention to detail.
At MarHam Dezigns, fashion isn’t just about clothes—it’s about confidence, expression, and creating something meaningful, one garment at a time.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that has served its purpose and must now be released is the need to seek external validation for my work and worth. As a creative, I’ve often looked to others for approval—waiting for confirmation that my ideas, designs, or path were “good enough.”
While that mindset once pushed me to grow and improve, it now holds me back from fully owning my voice and vision. I’m learning to trust my intuition, honor my unique style, and create from a place of authenticity rather than fear.
Letting go of this old version of myself is not easy, but it’s necessary to step into the next chapter of confidence, clarity, and freedom in both my life and creative journey.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Dear younger me, when the pressures of self doubt comes, remember that your worth isn’t measured by how pretty you are, or how loudly others applaud your designs you are already enough simply by daring to dream and create.
Trust your instincts, embrace every mistake as a lesson that you can learn from, and never let fear of failure silence the bold, beautiful voice within you, have everything you need to shine.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A powerful belief that I am staying committed to, is growth takes time, and with every step that I take forward no matter how small is a step towards progress.”
Holding onto this belief helps me stay grounded through challenges, being patient with myself during slow seasons, and resilient when things don’t go as planned.
It reminds me that transformation, whether personal or professional, is a journey not a race and that lasting success is built on steady, intentional effort over time.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
One thing I will regret not doing more frequently is traveling around the world, growing up one of my desires was always to travel and experience more of the world, or stepping out of my comfort zone. Becoming a mom and managing a business has taken priority over that desire.
The world is full of beauty, cultures, and lessons waiting to be discovered , but sometimes due to financial instability, keeps one from exploring it.
