We recently had the chance to connect with Lindsy Posz and have shared our conversation below.
Lindsy, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
I have a 24 hour rule on reaction times. I’ve noticed that when I have time to process my emotions, I can address things from a place a wisdom. For this purpose, if something is still weighing on me after a day, then it’s worth having a conversation about.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lindsy Posz. I’m a strong Sagittarius, a mother, a wife, a friend — and quite literally a class clown. I have a knack for collecting trinkets, adventure and friends wherever I go. I don’t think I’m that special or unique outside of that I felt the way a lot of women in the thralls of motherhood do and was fortunate enough to be able to do something about it. I’ve been trying to rebrand for years but that feels like the biggest decision of my life, so for now, I’m still “Ink by Lindsy” with a +1. (I’ll get there lol.) Ink by Lindsy was born on boredom, a desire for a creative outlet and something that was only “mine”. (Fuck them kids, jk. Idk if I can say that. I’m so sorry.) Tattooing fell in my lap with the right connections, a strong leader and the willingness to be a SPONGE. I’m (almost) 6 years in and I feel such a beautiful balance of reaching a point in my career where I can enjoy the fruits of my labor; I can create a schedule for myself that honors both my family and my clients. I work in an industry that keeps me on my toes and demands growth/innovation. I don’t care to be the biggest, baddest or the best. All I’ve ever cared to have exists within the walls surrounding my business and the stories that have been shared within them. To be a fly on our wall would be a gift. Anything beyond this is truly but a blessing.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
This is such a great question! Thank you for making me think. Hmmm. So like I feel like my 20’s were all about figuring out who I was. My 30’s (thus far) have been about just enjoying what I’ve found. I don’t think there’s any ONE unbecoming. I think being a human is just a series of unbecoming and becoming all over again. It’s like realizing there is no end game or final level and just a conscious, chosen state of being. More times than not, I want to hug little Lindsy and remind her of who she really is.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Woof. Why you gotta do me like that?! It’s all about the yin and the yang, my friend. One cannot exist without the other. How could we know how beautiful and incredible something could be without knowing the depths of heartache? Profound grief gifted me resilience and empathy that I wasn’t born with.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
HELL NAH. Jk to a degree. Despite being very warm and outgoing, I am very private. I gatekeep my manz because he’s an angel and I gatekeep my kids because there’s no reason for strangers to have familiarity. However, you never have to wonder where you stand with me. If I love you, I go hard for you.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I think therapy and tattoos can cost about the same. But sometimes people don’t want to be fixed. Sometimes people don’t want advice or a solution. They might even know the answer and just want to be heard. As a fixer, this job has taught me how to shut the fuck up and LISTEN. My way of loving people is solution driven; so learning how to offer a safe space to feel heard has been just as healing for me as it’s been for my clients. I truly think my clients would miss the loving environment we have created here. It feels like home. If you’ve been here, you KNOW what I’m saying.
