We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jess Marinos. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Jess, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I am currently working on a postpartum recovery center. I feel the space right after giving birth has lost the careful recovery time needed for all to create a happy and healthy postpartum journey
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jess and I am a Postpartum Doula! I help support and educate families during their postpartum journey. Each families story looks a little different and I am so honored to be a part of that! I have been working with families for just over 4 years now and have so many exciting things in the works to help reach so many more!!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I feel I’ve lived several lives up until now. I was a fitness instructor and aesthetician for 13 years, then in the corporate world for 10 until finally taking the leap to being a doula full time. Most importantly I am a mom the the most magical son!!
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I have always been stubbornly independent and do not like to rely on others to take care of me. I resisted anything I truly wanted in like for fear that I would fail and thought playing it safe was the better option. All things take a village and we all need help sometimes!!
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
This would have to be my mom. She is the most resilient, most trusted and most loved human I have ever encountered in my life. If you live in the valley I would bet you know her or have heard of her!
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
Building my postpartum recovery center. I have had this pipe dream for a few years now and finally feel ready to put my words into action!
