Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Janay Woods of Tempe

Janay Woods shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Janay, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day consist of me praying, meditating, and reading my daily devotion.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Nayblessedhands llc

At NayblessedHands, I, Janay, believe that every client who walks through my doors is more than just a client; they’re a part of my community. As an empath, I feel the stories and struggles that each person carries, which inspires me to create a warm and nurturing space for all. With an open heart and an open mind, I welcome individuals from all walks of life, embracing the beauty of diverse beliefs and backgrounds.

I take pride in my genuine approach, blending professional expertise with a touch of humor to ensure each visit is not just about style but also about connection. Resilience is key in both my personal journey and my craft; I’ve learned that beauty often emerges from the toughest experiences.

At NayblessedHands, I also celebrate the power of anonymous contributions, believing in the strength of the community to uplift one another. Together, we cultivate a space where everyone feels valued and beautiful. Your hair is my canvas, and with every strand, I aim to unveil the strength and grace that lies within you. Welcome to a place where your beauty shines, and your story is celebrated.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Well, when I had relocated to Georgia with only $45. Hahah. That’s unbelievable, but I had to do what was best for me. I recognized that I had to trust God and make the shift. Because of my relocation, Nayblessedhands was developed. Also, it changed my perspective on life and the beauty industry. It edified me to be better within my profession, and I acknowledged that it’s deeper than hair.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Babygirl!!! Take your rest, go ahead and be that little girl you have always longed to be. YOU ARE NO LONGER IN CAPTIVITY, YOU ARE FREE!!

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They would say my faith, family, and quality of work.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope they will say everything I did was with love. I was resilient, compassionate, and had a sense of humor. I gave them their confidence back! I was one of the best silk press slayers.
