Dusty Reed shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Dusty, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I’m most proud of how I’ve built up both my own and my business’s capacity to handle more events with confidence. Behind the scenes, I’ve been refining and strengthening our systems so we can take on not just more events but also larger, more complex ones. It’s been exciting to see how these improvements allow us to grow while still delivering the high-quality experience our clients expect.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dusty Reed, I am the owner of Element Design & Events. We have been doing floral, decor & design for events for the past 6 years. We are based in Tucson, AZ but travel all around Arizona and beyond for our clients. Whether designing for a corporate gathering or a couple’s wedding day, we craft each event with a custom approach. From immersive entry statement pieces to carefully selected linens and even down to every single votive candle, our goal is to guide our clients seamlessly through the design process & work to transform their vision into reality.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I’ve always been someone who loves doing things on my own, that drive is what led me to start my own business. But as Element has grown, I’ve learned an important lesson, I can’t (and shouldn’t) do everything by myself.
I remind myself often that it’s okay to lean on my team, to delegate, and to ask for help. Together, we’re able to take on more, dream bigger, and create even better experiences for our clients. No one has to do it all alone and I’m grateful for the team that has put in the hours make Element what it is today.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Keep digging in to your colorful sense of style & be proud of the things you like!
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
At Element, we believe in going the extra mile. When our team is on-site, we stay until the job is truly done. Whether that means designing a last minute centerpiece, adjusting every detail until it’s just right, and vacuuming up every stray pieces of moss.
This commitment is part of our brand, we don’t stop until our clients are 100% happy. That dedication has built a foundation of trust with our clients. Trust that is invaluable to both them and to me. It’s something I’m deeply proud of, and it’s what makes every event we create feel complete.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Our customers will miss our quick communication and our awesome set up crews!
