Astra, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I recently moved to a really cool little mining town named Bisbee, AZ. It’s a very artistic, musical, and diverse place considering it’s only 5500 people! After 3 years of full time RV living, I am excited to have a home again, and am loving tapping into the magic of Bisbee.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a career voice artist. As a singer/songwriter, I’ve released ten albums on my own label, and have been performing regularly on stages around the country my whole life. As a vocal coach, I always say, “the voice is the body’s instrument.” It is pure magic. I love using my voice in whatever way I can, whether singing my songs, supporting other artists, narrating documentaries and the like, or being the voice of rising Instagram star, a cat named Melvin.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The one with my Mom, who is no longer with us. She taught me to visualize and be brave. She encouraged me to be exactly who I was and be proud. She let me know it was ok to be sensitive and emotional. She showed me how to listen to other people, and to nature, and to the world around me. She taught me how to connect with spirit and the unseen. She loved me unconditionally.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Are you kidding?! As an independent musician and artist, thinking about giving up happens on the regular. Then, at least for me personally, you realize it’s not a choice…you just have to create and keep going.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. I couldn’t be anyone else.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing? 
Not asking my Mom more questions before she died.
