Angel Jenneford shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Angel , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I think one of the biggest misunderstandings about my business is that aesthetics is only for a certain type of person. In reality, many people of color especially in the African-American community aren’t as familiar with the range of treatments available that can help us age gracefully, support skin health, and enhance natural beauty without changing who we are. My passion is educating and creating safe, tailored treatments that honor our unique features while showing that aesthetics is for everyone.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Angel, and I’m a registered nurse with nearly 20 years of experience in the nursing field. I own a med spa here in Glendale, Arizona, where I specialize and dermal, fillers, neuromodulators, and skin treatments. My passion is providing safe and effective aesthetic treatments for everyone. What makes my work unique is not just the services we offer, but the way we tailor them to honor each person’s natural beauty and individuality. I especially love educating people of color, who may not always be as familiar with aesthetics, about the treatments available to help us age gracefully and feel confident in our skin. For me, it’s about combining medical expertise with artistry to create results that are natural, empowering, and safe.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
When I was younger, I was really shy and always put everyone else’s feelings and needs before my own. Over time, I realized that way of living isn’t sustainable if you want to step into your purpose. Now, I’ve learned to honor my own voice and path, and that shift has allowed me to become a registered nurse, build a business, impact lives, and show up more fully for others.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely, running and growing a business is extremely hard, especially when you’re building it from ground zero. There were and still are moments of doubt, fatigue, and uncertainty, but I remind myself why I started and that is to create a space that is safe, empowering, and accessible for everyone. Holding onto that purpose keeps me going, and I am beyond proud of how far I’ve come.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
A big lie the beauty industry tells itself is that quick fixes and trends are what matter most. In reality, lasting results come from knowledge, safety, and personalized care. The industry also often overlooks people of color. While the industry is slowly becoming more inclusive, there’s still a gap, which is why tailored education, products, and treatments for people of color are so important.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What will you regret not doing?
I won’t regret not doing anything, because I’m tackling everything I feel God has called to do on this earth. I’m pursuing my purpose fully, taking every step I’m meant to take, and making sure I leave nothing on the table.
