We recently had the chance to connect with Andi Hess and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Andi, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day is actually my favorite part of the day! A couple years ago, I spent a lot of time thinking about morning routines. I found myself caught between two paradigms – should I want to be part of the 5 AM Club or have a four hour workweek? They seem mutually exclusive. In my mind, the four hour work week means sleeping in, never being in a rush. The 5 AM Club? That seems like hustle. And to be honest, I love the idea of both.
I spent a lot of time (particularly in hypnosis since that’s my thing) exploring the idea of a morning
that felt really good – supportive, peaceful, energizing. What I realized was that I do like waking up early, but I love having nowhere to go. I love spending a full hour after I wake up just lounging in bed and snuggling my dogs. Collecting my thoughts, maybe listening to some music. By the time I actually get out of bed, my body and mind are wide awake. From there, it’s breakfast (always eggs) and getting myself ready for the day. It’s a long, slow, easy morning, and it’s my favorite version of a morning routine that I’ve ever had.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Andi Hess. I’m a Rapid Results Coach and Certified Hypnotherapist, and I help six-figure entrepreneurs transform into who they need to be to hit seven. At Remix Coaching, we believe you already have everything you need within you—you just need a little remix.
We all have patterns that hold us back, and you probably know exactly what yours are. In our private practice, we work primarily with women entrepreneurs who are already successful on paper but often feel stuck, overwhelmed, or trapped in cycles of overthinking and procrastination. Our growing team helps them break through those subconscious blocks so they can create the next version of success on their own terms. What makes our approach unique is that we blend coaching and practical strategies with hypnosis and subconscious reprogramming, so our clients don’t just know what to do—they actually feel capable and excited to do it.
My work grew out of a very personal journey. I found a self-hypnosis cassette tape at a garage sale when I was just ten years old, and it became one of the most important tools in my life. Years later, after a career as a professor and productivity consultant, I returned to that love of the subconscious mind and built a business around helping others rewire their thinking for success.
Right now, I’m especially excited about sharing my story in a new book, Six Figure Chicks, Scottsdale. I had the chance to join an inspiring group of women in this movement, with the hope that together we can inspire the next generation to dream bigger and achieve more.
At the heart of it, Remix Coaching is about making transformation feel easy. Because it really can be.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
For me, the part that had to be released was the version of myself that needed constant validation of my expertise. For years, I collected titles and credentials. Professor. Consultant. Trainer. Always the expert. I leaned on those roles to prove I was capable and worthy of being listened to. At the time, those things served me well. They opened doors, gave me credibility, and helped me find my footing.
But eventually I realized that clinging to titles was keeping me small. It meant I was always proving myself instead of truly being myself. The deeper work I do now comes from hundreds of client success stories, but it’s also grounded in lived experience, intuition, and the courage to trust my own voice. Letting go of the need for external validation has allowed me to stand more fully in my power. And the truth is, it’s an ongoing process—every new level of growth invites me to release that need all over again, in a deeper way.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, of course! There have been days, weeks, even months in a row where I’ve wanted to give up. I’m known for being obnoxiously positive (something I’ve practiced since I was 16), but I don’t believe in toxic positivity. We all have emotions, and the goal isn’t to avoid “negative” ones—it’s to be able to feel them without letting them derail you.
Last year I struggled with this so deeply that I created an entire new mini course out of it. I couldn’t see the end goal, couldn’t imagine a year out. What got me through was learning to choose the tiniest vision possible. Just one hour at a time. Who do I want to be in this meeting? How do I want to show up today? That’s it. One step forward.
And sometimes, I give myself permission to have what I call “wallow days.” Days where all I want to do is lie on the floor and wallow. And that’s okay, because tomorrow I’ll feel better. It doesn’t mean anything about me, my business, or my life—it’s just part of being human.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Oh, absolutely. I learned a long time ago that, first, I have no filter. When I shut my mouth, subtitles come out of my face. I just don’t have it in me to pretend, to fake things, or to hide who I am. Honestly, that might be partly the autism.
But more than that, I discovered that everything is easier when you’re so loudly yourself that anyone who isn’t for you leaves quickly. The people who are drawn to me are drawn to me because what you see is what you get. That’s how I know they’re my people.
If I’m not for you, that’s totally fine. Pretending just to keep someone in my space doesn’t serve them or me. And I think a lot of people forget this: it’s just as important for you to choose who you want to be around as it is to be chosen.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Yes, absolutely. That’s actually the story I told in the book Six Figure Chicks, Scottsdale. For most of my career, I thought success meant climbing the academic ladder. I became a professor, earned the titles, checked all the boxes. On paper, it looked like I had everything I’d been working toward. I actually checked off my entire bucket list by the time I was 37.
But instead of feeling fulfilled, I felt trapped. I realized I had built a life that looked impressive from the outside but didn’t feel aligned on the inside. That was a huge turning point for me—recognizing that achievement alone doesn’t equal satisfaction.
It’s what eventually led me here, to doing the work I do now. I feel like in some ways this is my retirement career – the thing I’ll do forever just to do it. It is never lost on me how lucky I am to get to do what I do now. Because getting what you want only matters if it’s really what you want.
