Kristyn Aldrich & Josh Aldrich shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Kristyn & Josh, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
My husband and feel like we are being called to go full speed ahead in our business! More specifically myself as I still work another full time job but really feel called to grind as hard as I can so that I can transition into being full time for our own business!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a creator! I started off this journey as an influencer and then transitioned more into UGC content for brands. Around that time I met my husband who is a professional photographer & videographer (score!!). Together we started to create content for all kinds of brands. Recently we started our own full scale Media Production company, Motion Sickness Media. What’s unique about our company is that we are a husband and wife team that blended the skills I had from years of experience in social media and agency work and his skills of over 10 years being behind the camera and telling stories! What I love is the wide variety of services we can offer clients because of this!
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband and now business partner! He saw strengths and characteristics in me that I never saw! He brought out a part of me that is stronger and bolder and I’ve accomplished things I never thought I’d be able to thanks to him. He pushes me and encourages me to be the best version of myself.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of not doing something perfect or failing. Recently I’ve been learning to let go of the perfectionist standard I’ve put on myself since I was young. There’s no such thing as perfect and failing is how you learn – and I’m learning that!
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
The problem with fads/trends is that there always needs to be something new. These trends come and go and makes it hard to get to the depth of whatever it is you’re looking for. In our industry, that’s brands who want content but get so caught up on the fun trends to try and go viral that they’re missing the key piece of showing who they are. Foundational shifts are all about authenticity and story telling and when you can focus on those things over trends that’s how you making a lasting impact. Within the social media and content creation space I think it’s very easy to tell the difference between the quick and fast trends vs. something that has depth and is creating a foundational shift within that space.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people talk about my loyalty, big heart, authenticity and love for adventure and creation! My husband and I both share these values and really strive in all of our relationships and experiences to be our most authentic self and leave a lasting impact on our families, friends and clients!
