We recently had the chance to connect with Joshua Farley and have shared our conversation below.
Joshua, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Something outside of work that’s bringing me joy lately is learning Spanish. My wife and I are preparing to walk the Camino de Santiago, and I’ve been enjoying picking up the language so I can better communicate with the locals along the way. It’s been rewarding to challenge myself in a new way, and I’m looking forward to connecting more deeply with the people and culture during our journey.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Joshua Farley, President & CEO of Redline Electric & Solar, based in Tempe, AZ. As a master electrician with over 30 years of experience, I lead a passionate team dedicated to delivering “awesome” every day, whether that’s through electrical installations and troubleshooting, solar installations, or emergency power systems for commercial and residential clients.
Redline Electric & Solar stands out because of our commitment to “delivering awesome” from start to finish. We focus on top-tier service, reliable and proven products, and a team that’s continuously pushing to be the best in the industry. Our process is simple: listen to our clients, deliver solutions that truly fit their needs, and get the job done right the first time. That’s why many of our clients (from homeowners to big-name brands and home builders) trust us to power what matters most to them.
Right now, I’m focused on redefining service in the electrical industry, supporting growth, and finding new ways to make the customer experience even better. If you’re looking for a team that delivers expertise, integrity, and awesome results, Redline is here to help.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment or really, an influence, that shaped how I see the world was growing up watching my father. He taught me the importance of doing what you say you’re going to do, showing up early, and always helping where you can. Those lessons stuck with me. They’ve shaped how I approach both life and business, emphasizing integrity, reliability, and lending a hand whenever possible. That foundation is a big part of who I am and how I lead my team at Redline today.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
A moment that really shaped how I see the world was when I had a pulmonary embolism and almost died. That experience was a serious wake-up call. It made me realize how important it is to focus on what truly matters—my family, my health, and working hard to leave something meaningful behind.
Living with Factor V Leiden means I never really know when my body could throw another clot, so I’ve learned to live every day with purpose. I try not to take anything for granted anymore, and I’m much more intentional about where I put my energy and time. It’s pushed me to appreciate the present, push for success, and make the most out of every moment I get.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely, the public version of me is the real me! What you see is what you get: authentic, empathetic, and say what I want/need to say. I believe in being genuine with everyone I meet, whether it’s my team, clients, or anyone else. I don’t try to put on a different face in public. I care about people, I stand by my values, and I always aim to show up as my true self, no matter the situation.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What light inside you have you been dimming?
The light inside me that I’ve been dimming is my love for music, specifically, playing the guitar. Life has been busy with work, family, travel, learning Spanish, and hitting the gym, so I haven’t given music the attention it deserves lately. It’s still a big part of who I am, and I know I need to make more space for it again. There’s something about picking up the guitar and getting lost in the music that just feels right, and I don’t want to let that passion fade.
