Jennifer Hassett’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

Jennifer Hassett shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Jennifer, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the biggest misconceptions about my business is that you need to have children to use our services. While the agency was founded with a focus on high-quality nanny placements, we also have a sister company, A Perfect Fit Household Staffing, that specializes in a wide range of household support. Between the two, we place everything from nannies and newborn care specialists to personal assistants, house managers, private chefs, and more.

Many people are surprised to learn that a significant number of our clients do not have children. Some are professionals who need help managing a busy home. Others are retirees or couples who want extra support with daily tasks and household organization. Our services are personalized to fit each household’s unique rhythm, regardless of whether or not children are involved.

At the heart of it all is our commitment to thoughtful, long-term matches. We take the time to understand our clients’ values, routines, and needs, and then connect them with someone who will fit seamlessly into their life. It is never one-size-fits-all. Our goal is to make life run a little more smoothly, whatever that looks like for each client.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Jennifer Hassett, owner of A Perfect Fit. We’re a nanny and household staffing agency that helps families and individuals find exceptional in-home support. What makes us unique is how personal our process is. We don’t just place people in jobs. We build relationships. Every placement is thoughtful and customized, with the goal of creating a strong and lasting connection for both the client and the caregiver.

A Perfect Fit was founded because of a real need for a more intentional and hands-on approach to childcare and household staffing. Over time, we expanded our services through our sister company, A Perfect Fit Household Staffing, which focuses on personal assistants, house managers, private chefs, and other roles that support the entire home.

We’re proud to be based in Arizona and excited that our team will be attending the APNA (Association of Premier Nanny Agencies) conference in Scottsdale this year. It’s an honor to represent our local agency among such an incredible group of staffing agencies from around the world.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that most shaped how I see myself is the one I had with my mom. She was a single mother raising three girls while living with a physical disability, and she faced more challenges than I can count. Even with everything she had going on, she was always my biggest cheerleader. She taught me resilience, independence, and the importance of showing up no matter what. Because of her, I grew up truly believing I could do and be anything. Her strength and belief in me shaped so much of who I am today as a woman, a mother, and a business owner.

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
Yes, my husband is someone who has truly listened to me in such a meaningful way. When I shared my vision for my business, he didn’t just hear me. He showed up in every way. He took a long break from his own career to help me grow my company, even before we were married. He built my websites and developed a custom client relationship management system which is the software we use to track and support families and candidates throughout the placement process. It was a huge undertaking, and he poured so much care and thought into making sure it matched what I needed. His belief in me and his willingness to help bring my ideas to life made all the difference.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is very much the real me. Authenticity is one of my core values, both personally and professionally. I don’t believe in putting on a polished front that doesn’t reflect who I am behind the scenes. What you see is what you get. I care deeply about the work I do, the people I serve, and the way I show up. Whether I’m speaking with a client, supporting my team, or spending time with my family, I lead with honesty, heart, and a genuine desire to make a difference. Staying true to myself is something I take pride in, and I hope that comes through in every interaction.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had 10 years left, I would stop limiting my travel and start exploring the world more freely. I’ve always loved learning through experiences, and there’s something incredibly powerful about immersing yourself in other cultures. It opens your mind, shifts your perspective, and reminds you how much there is to discover beyond your daily routine. Travel has always inspired me, and I’d want to spend as much time as possible soaking in those moments and memories with the people I love.
