Inspiring Conversations with Veanney and Laura Browder of The Scookie Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veanney and Laura Browder.

Hi Veanney and Laura, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We’re a mobile catering food truck that first hit the streets in 2016! We love to be a sweet addition to your special events! Including weddings, corporate parties, Bar Mitzvahs, and more! We specialize in ‘Build Your Own’ deep-dish skillet cookies! ​First, you get to choose your freshly baked cookie. Next, you choose from a variety of our Thrifty flavored ice creams. And lastly, top off your Scookie with your choice of unlimited toppings!

Veanney’s sweet -tooth rubbed off on Laura & we found ourselves always going on dessert dates to get deep-dish skillet cookies. When we always wanted different flavors, we decided it would be sweet to open a business that specialized in just that dessert. Skillet Cookies; but with a variety of cookies, ice creams, & topping options for endless combinations of your choice!

We trademarked & registered the term “Scookie”. The Scookie Bar got its name because the owners (Us, Veanney & Laura) joke that Laura is the white scoop & Veanney is the brown cookie. In 2014 we met outside of a bar in West Hollywood & have been together since. So, the little insider is that The Scookie Bar is ‘where the scoop met the cookie!’

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We first started The Scookie Bar with a mobile trailer. The trailer wasn’t built properly and we got into an accident coming home from an event on National Cookie Day (of all days) December 4, 2016.

It was a blessing in disguise though, because we got our new food truck with the reimbursement funds and got back on the road by the end of January! It was a great new way to start 2017 and the blessings took off from there!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
When really good things happen for us with The Scookie Bar, we like to think of our “luck” more as a higher power coming together for us. We truly believe our Grandmas are up there orchestrating miracles and opportunities for us left and right. We always count our blessings and thank them for their guidance along the way!
