Inspiring Conversations with Travis of Blue Ribbon RV

Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis.

Hi Travis, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Elkhart County in Indiana, known as the RV capital of the world. Over 75% of all RVs are manufactured there, so naturally I was drawn to finding a job related to it. I also developed my love for the great outdoors on several camping adventures with my mother and grandparents as a young boy, so it was no surprise that I later worked for several manufacturers in the area. Fast forward to 2021, I moved to California which is where I became familiar with the service and repair side of the RV industry. For 3 years, I learned everything I could from a local repair shop owner, who was seasoned 45 years and extremely knowledgeable. I learned everything from the roles of technicians, to phone sales, service writer, parts ordering, and shop management. During this time I became extremely interested in business, specifically entrepreneurship. In April of 2024, I started my own mobile repair company for some extra income outside of my day job at the local repair shop. It was short-lived. Only 6 months after starting my business, my wife and I moved Surprise, AZ. I started working as a technician for a local dealership and immediately formed the same exact company in Arizona and dissolved the business in California. And on June 18th, 2025, after growing my clientele for about 8 months, I quit my job at the dealership and never looked back (and don’t plan to). That brings us to present day, where I spend everyday improving tools, training, education, processes, and more— all so I can provide my customers a better experience tomorrow than it was today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think “smooth” roads exist in business. It’s been an interesting journey so far, but just like starting any business, it took some time to get things moving in the right direction. I was working a 9-5 as an RV technician at a local dealership while growing my clientele on the side. In the summer of 2025, when I decided to quit my job and go full time in my business, my first child had just been born, and I was hanging on for dear life. And for the first two and half weeks after quitting my day job, I got ZERO calls. Talk about scary. I was sweating bullets. But I had faith and stuck to it and, sure as the wind blows, the work started coming in. Of course a lot of late nights, unseen hours, and all-in dedication may have contributed to it as well. That’s just one of many bumps on the road. But, like everything we do as humans, we learn, improve, and eventually just do. And that’s how we’ll always handle the curveballs life throws our way.

We’ve been impressed with Blue Ribbon RV, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Blue Ribbon RV is a fully mobile RV repair service based in Surprise, AZ. Being mobile, we service the greater Phoenix area and even beyond on occasion.

We specialize in the “house” side of RVs and trailers, including: Electrical, plumbing, LP systems, appliances, slide outs, roofing, axles, and more.

What sets us apart is our extreme ownership in craftsmanship, customer service, and experience. We believe in taking the bad taste out of every RV owner’s mouth and creating a stress free experience, so they know their next adventure won’t be hindered by unexpected failures of various systems in their RV.

One thing we are most proud of is not being the cheapest option. We are a premium service, suited to take extra time to educate the customer, keep them informed every step of the way from inquiry to invoicing, and reinvesting into the business to create a better service experience tomorrow than they received today.

Anything from safety and operational inspections, annual maintenance, and emergency repairs, we ensure the customer never has to worry if their RV is ready for the road.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Treat EVERY customer like they’re your ONLY customer! Beyond that, take the time to set up the business to be sustainable in the long run rather than rushing into it to make a quick buck—because that’s where your business will end, with a single dollar in the bank.

Pricing:

  • $175/hour labor rate
  • $49 booking fee
